Hi,
Around 2:30 AM last night my Napco RP1054e Keypad began signaling a
steady beep. When I checked it, a number 3 and the first three lights
were flashing. The 3 zone is for my kitchen door and front door. I
resettled it by pushing the 9 key and it went back to normal operations.
I started back to alarm mode again.
The doors were not tampered with. What do you suppose happen and
what should I check to prevent it next time?
Thank you, Norm

Hi Norm,

The continuous beeping with flashing lights is a Napco "trouble" alert. The
number 3 trouble display means "Failure to Communicate." Your alarm is probably
programmed to send a test signal to the monitoring service around 2:30 am. If
for any reason the signal did not go through, the system would alert you in the
manner you described.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the info. I no longer pay for monitoring service. Can I eliminate the
communication test? I just want a stand alone alarm system.
Thanks again, Norm

Yes, you can if you have access to the system program in your alarm. The dealer
may or may not have locked the panel to prevent you from accessing it. If he
did, the board may need to be replaced. If not, the default dealer access code
is "456789." Try that and let me know if you get in *BEFORE* you change
anything.

Robert,
I held down the 8 Key until the function beep sounded. The installer wrote the
programer code in my manual of 123456. I tried it and the first 3 lights are
flashing with a sounder pulse. Then I pressed the B/A key and I'm in the Programmer
Mode. This is where I am stuck. Norm

Already switched you to Comcast eh?

I've heard horror stories about that

No problems so far. They didn't send me the package (or they sent it and I
didn't keep it -- not sure which). But a phone call to tech support was
answered in about 5-6 minutes and the girl; walked me through it alright.
