Can someone help me out. I just finished installing the DSC 832 with one
5501z keypad . I've got everything up and running. The keypad says Open 1
and Trouble. Zone 1 is the front door which is wired to the z on the keypad.
I have wired 3 nc doors. Door 1 goes to keypad, Door 2+3 go to zone 2+3 in
panel. I placed a jumper (wire) on all remaining zones except for zone 1
which I left empty. These are all the zones I have wired for now. I plan to
install more in time but, I'm just trying to get the basic alarm up and
running first.

This is what I've done so far:

000 0 1 1
902 (wait 1 min) 903 And it shows 1
000 6 (1,2,6,7 are on)
013 1 (1,3,6,7 are on)
001 01,03,02,00,00,00,00,00 (is this the right way to do this?)

The directions jump around something terrible! It recognizes zone 2+3 fine
and chimes. But zone 1 does nothing. I checked the wiring and all was good.
Am I missing something?

Tim

You need to enable the keypad zone for it to work. In section 20, enter 01
in slot 1, if your keypad is in slot 1. You'll also need to set the clock to
clear the trouble. *6 <master code> 1 <time> (in 24 hour format,) <date>

Did you map the keypad zone to Zone 1 of the panel ??

Go into the programing in section 020 and add 01 as the keypad zone

Ok, I got zone 1 working. Thank you! I figured it was something simple. Now,
I set the time like you stated but I still have a trouble light. Any ideas
why?

You indicated that you jumpered the zones that you are not using, you don't
need to. Just put 00 in the zones you don't want when programming location
001. In the case of zone 1, define it as 01, entry exit. Just do what
everyone else said concerning location 020.

Press *2 and read the code. Do you have a manual?

*2 gives me a blinking trouble with a 3. Yes I have a manual and what a
manual it is. I'm still trying to figure why they give you the program
instructions next to the installation instructions. You would think DSC
would prefer I install it before I program it. But maybe that's just the
rookie in me. What do I know. I will check the manual again today.

A 3 is telephone line trouble. Either connect a phone line, or go to
section 015 and turn off option 7.

I figured it out. Everything is up and running. Now I can take the time to
figure out the rest. Thanks for all the help!
