Anyone any idea of the British Gas Securitys Installer Code

Just moved into a new house and want to alter some programming on the DSC

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

The installer code is set by the installer, it is not generic.

So what happens if someone else attends ?
It p's me off when security co's put a code in thats not given in the
documentation.

I know the system default but they've obviously changed that.

If all else fails I'll either get them down and try get them to change it
back to the default, or I will go for a full hard reset and reprogram it
from scratch.

Don't get pissed, there are many reasons why companies don't give installers
codes. If you know your way around the programming, go for the reset that
way you know you are working with a blank sheet.

Someone once told be the manual is out there on the www somewhere (assuming
its the same alarm). Then you can do your own thing.

Spoke to my friend who had the code as BG tried to do it online but had to
get him to push the buttons.
Good luck!

I have the same problem but don't even know the potential default code -
also I have no manual so I don't even know how to use it in the first
place - I do however have my own set/unset access code.

I rang British Gas and asked for a new manual which they said they were
sending - should get it this week...but I am not holding my breath. If you
do find a manual online please let me know where it is...

Can you also let me know the default code in case mine happens to still be
on that?

I couldn't believe the price to be 'monitored' - £25pm - ridiculous.
Apparantly they monitor it through your phone line, but as the phone line is
quite obvious on the outside of the house wouldn't a potential burglar
simply cut the telephone line before breaking in or does it not work like
that?

I don't expect I shall ever have it serviced (as they made out I get a free
service for the monthly fee) as the service costs >£80+VAT then some other
amount every 15 minutes!!!

The alarm can be used as a normal bell-tone - so that is what I am doing, if
only I knew how to use it...!

Two Sites...

http://www.eiisecurity.com/DSC/DSC%20Manuals.htm
or
http://www.bass-home.com/Manuals/DSC/Power832-Manuals.cfm

The software is realy cool also if you can stand the 15 or so megs download.

I'll mail you direct with the default code, you could be lucky.

You can set the alarm to dial a pager on activation, which is what I am
intending to do. Just bought a bunch of modules for it as well, home
automation etc. etc.

Yes, British gas take the proverbial !! They are as bad as ADT cost wise.

Cheers

Hi

The DSC panels that British Gas use have there own special software made for
them by DSC. If anyone factory resets their system you will not be able to
re-program the panel using the standard programming manual. You can only
access these manuals on the main DSC website, which is passworded for BG
Engineers. Even the Engineers code at default is different. I can help you
with your system. I install for British Gas. Any Questions Just Ask !
