SIA or Contact ID??

Would anyone like to debate the benifits of one over the other?

I prefer SIA for DSC, ITI and older Caddx panels, Contact ID for others. It
really makes no difference which to choose since it seems they both work
equally well although others here have their reasons for Contact ID over SIA

There are problems with Contact ID on older DSC panels, if your doing
Contact ID on a PC5010 you must enter individual Contact ID codes for each
event which to me defeats the purpose of it, same for the PC1555 v2 and 2.1,
version 2.3 however does automatically send the correct CID codes, since
many times its hard to tell what version of DSC panel you have its better in
my opinion to send SIA on these panels since it has no limitation like CID
does. FBI also requires correct codes, Caddx NX series does both formats
equally well, same with ITI, the new Moose ZX300-310 does both formats well

One issue in certain parts of the country is the telco's have severely
reduced the bandwith of phone lines, this seems to interfere with SIA
although I have yet to ever see it happen, others here may have

I use mostly Napco on installed systems. It works very well with Contact ID but
SIA doesn't always work for us. I don't know if this is a Napco weakness or a
problem with the Osborne-Hoffman receiver.
