It looks very much like a Yamaha Majesty, with a few changed to the
seat and plastic on the back half.
I'm aware some of our American friends would have liked the Majesty to
be available to them. Maybe it now is (sort of) in this model.

well, aside from the fact its a chinese linhai power max, yeah- i guess its
a yamaha. except for the chinese part. and the linhai part. and the power
max part. and theres no guarantee your local DMV has it in their system, or
that it can be registered, insured, or driven on public roads.
aside from those minor considerations, sure.. its nice.
I think you may have replied to the wrong thread!

They want 4K for that? For that much, one could go out and buy a
Reflex or used Burgman 400.
If you can't figure out my address, you need help.

burgman400? used? $4k? not yet, in america.
I've been having a few problems with the clutch / basket arrangement
on my Majesty, but once fixed I'll hang on to it for antother year.
After that I will be legal to ride the T-Max. Shame I probably won't
have the dosh to do so. Still you never know, a used one may turn up.

Absolutely, at least for a few more years, then time will show.

Problems ? It is a Maj. 250 ? I rode mine 30.000km/19000mls without any
needed attention or maintenance to the clutch. Last time I checked, (I do
still make the inspections for the new owner of my previous Maj.) at
38.000km/24.000mls it was still some left.

Mine is at 29K miles! The rear bearing gave way and doused the clutch
with final transmission oil. The bearing was replaced and they tried
to clean up the clutch but it lost all grip when cold.
They put a new clutch in, and decided not to replace the basket (if
that is it's name, the drum the clutch engages with to turn the
wheel). The basket is scored, and the shop was tring to save me
antother chunk of cash.
The puzzle is that when cold - after an overnight park it struggles
over the fist few hundered metres to get over 30MPH. It then kicks in
and runs fine. If it's been switched off for a few hours it runs fine.
Only after over eight hours does it play up.
At the other end, if I'm cruising at 65-70 MPH for a while it will
lose the poke to get up to 75mph and can max out at 65. If I stop at a
service station for a short while, or have to drop to 50MPH for a few
miles of roadworks it get's it full zip back.
It's going back in for more attention, so I think it looks like I'm
going to have to shell out on another expensive bit.
Seems that the cleanup is not done properly..

If it is scored.. change..

No wonder.. time allows the residue oil to sip back..

This is not good because the slipping causes at LOT of heat.. and might
destroy other bits..

Well.. I guess another new pair of clutch shoes and a new drum..
And later: The seals in the tranny (outgoing axle and rear axle) MUST be
inspected every 4k mls
At approx 30k mls or something the engine is due for a major overhaul
anyway. Especially the oil pump. Add some new pistonrings etc..
Then it will do 50k without probs..

Thanks for the first hand account. Best to go with something that can
get fixed. Just glad I live where the Majesty is available. Just have
to stop being tempted by the T-Max.

Either you believe it or not a Tmax is also a trade off on some bits..:
One is weight when handling it in the couryard, then some comfort since the
saddle on the Maj. almost kisses yer ass and gives a very good backsupport
the Tmax saddle is something (albeit very ok) something you sit 'on' not 'in'.
Then you have to trade off some luggagespace, especially the handy big
glovebox, the Tmax will eat 50% more gas and do even more noise with the
std. windshield (above 60 mls/hr).
The trade in is of course a three story higher level of stability in turns,
lotsa more grunt and far better headlights (recommends to rewire the
headlights so both is in use all the time like dip/dip and dip/main. Easy task).
I do still have some strong positive feelings from my former Maj.. :)
