Can anyone tell me how to switch off the Oil, Service and Belt
indicators on my X9 250 (2002). Although the dealer can do it, this
means I must go 60 miles round trip, missing out local non-franchise
dealers I use for other bikes. If the bike is out of warranty, there
is no other reason for this inconvenience.

I know that you can switch between Miles and Kilometres on the
electronic dash by pressing TRIP and M buttons simultaneously then
turning on the Ignition. Do service indicators switch off the same
way.

Main impressions of the 2002 changes are:
-PICS reception rubbish but Intercom works OK.,
-new screen is vast improvement on old and even the Givi one (tried
both on 2001 model for over 300 miles),
-new seat slightly lower so good for short legs,
-80 mpg @ ave 65 mph on motorway with 10 mph to spare (even when
running in). [That is quite fast enough and handling can generally
cope with those speed round most corners]
-might need Malossified once out of warranty to lift engine speed
under initial acceleration from around 4800 rpm into max torque range
above 5500.

Cheers,

Steve Manson

Take off the front fairing and you will find a button marked 'Reset' or
something like. This together with the ignition switch is used to cancel
the service indicators - but take care when you do it cos the computer
seems to count the mileage from when it was reset rather than from zero.
This means that for example, if a service was done at 4000 miles but the
dealer forgot to reset, and you have now done 4700 miles and decide to
reset it yourself, you will find the service indicator does not come up
again when it should, but 700 miles late!

HI,

Remove the headlight cover (5 screws) as if you were replacing a bulb and
you will find a reset button beside the headlight assembly. Buttons are for
pressing and this one resets the indicators you were asking about, but as my
digital display was replaced before the 600 miles service was due I haven't
actually seen how it works???

And the new digital display still mists up when it rains.

Good luck

George.
