My question to all you skilled Vespa afficianado's out there is, after
I come back from my 2000 mile trip to Poland next week, and as I have
a commission to concours restore an SX200, I was going to tune my P2
with the proceeds.
The initial plan was to be a Malossi 210 kit and a performance exhaust
(any ideas as to which one?). Given that the scoot does 80mph anyway,
would these maodifications have any difference? What is currently
responsible for that extra boost? Is it in the crank or the cylinder?
The last thing I want to do is tune her up (and spend loads of money)
to find out it goes slower!
Any comments appreciated!

Last weekend on the big ride out we did a stretch along the motorway were a
lot of people wound their scooters up as fast as they would go.
My runner 125 was showing 75mph and was just edging past a few standard
PX200's.
The only ones that were beating me were some of the tuned machines and a
couple of Lambretta Grandrpix200's , one of which had a good 10 mph on me.
I'd be sceptical of a genuine 80mph from a standard one.
What was it compared to?

It was comapared to a Land Rover Freelander, however it was not a
scientific calculation but she was driving at 75mph and could not stay
in sight in mirror! I get an indicated 80mph on the speedo. I would
love a GPS but really it is money spent on a GPS vs loads of drugs in
Holland!!! GPS aint gonna win!!
I have owned the PX for 9 months now and am fairly sure that the
speedo is accurate, based upon the speed that people slow down to at
speed cameras!
One day I will buy a GPS, but not for this trip.
