It is time for me to get 2 new tires for the scoot before it gets ridden much
come the nice spring weather (fingerscrossed). Front and rear both require 10"
x 4" rubber. Someone had mentioned Dunlop front (10") and Bridgstone rear(12")
for a Helix, but for an Elite? and from what store? TIA

The elite takes 4:00 x 10 tires on both front
and rear. I have the same type of Bridgestone
on my helix and CH250, which is the Molas
16. On my elite's front, I have a 4:00 x 10
Bridgestone Molas 11. Don't know if it is still
in production or not, but I'm happy with it.
It could have been a mispost, but a helix
takes a 12" tire on the front, and a 10" on
the rear. Just about any mail-order accessory
store, or you local cycle shop should be able
to get these tires, but it pays to shop around.

T where are you? I use Chin Cheng on the Koot Scoot. I find them really good and at
$29can each a lot better than Bridgestone at $65 or Michelin at $100plus. The
bridgestone certainly doesn't last twice as long nor the Michelin three times as
long. I have never had any problems, I am on my third rear tire, and still on the
first front tire, with about half the tread left. I average about 7000-8000kms on
the rear tires, and I ride it hard with a lot of high speed touring; 60-65mph.

Hopr this helps

I get my bridgestone rear tires for about $39.00US
from a local shop. I got 12,000 miles out of
the last one on my helix, and almost always
get at least 10,000 miles.

I bought my '85 CH250 with very low miles,
and only have just over 8,000 miles on it now.
The front tire has lots of miles left on it.

i have bridgestone molas-16's on my '85 elite250.. front and back.. i just
recently found out that there is a matching front tire to the 16, it's the
molas-17.. i might try one.. but, with the 16's on F&R, i get really great
traction in the wet.. i've ridden in heavy, heavy downpours at up to 50mph,
something that you have to deal with in east texas rains.. the wear isn't so
bad, i've gotten 6500 miles out of my rear tire..not too bad, i guess.. this
will be my second set of bridgestones..

i've looked around for other brands, and haven't found a set in 10"x4" that
i like.. no cheng-shin's for my 250.. i'm not risking my ass on those..

wish metzeler or pirelli would make a decent set.. i envy those low profile,
race tires that the little 50cc scoots have.. those are the shit.. just wish
that they made them in my size..

if anyone knows of a low profile set, please inform me..

thanks,
j.

hi I have 6900 mi on rear mola. tread not quite smooth. I am replacing . $60. delivered. a Pia to replace. mine is 1988 ch250 25000 miles. have a very pretty 85 ch 250 with some off tires. scares me. but 85 ch250 under 5000 miles sounds and rides nice. I like the 1988 wind protection for hands that 1985 lacks small details but important in n idaho. why are exhaust gaskets so costly. every tire mod exhaust gasket at about 10$ but make own that do not last.? jon l
