Hi, I have heard the et4 50 is restricted in 3 places. The carburettor,
the variator and the cdi.

The variator has a washer that must be removed. See
http://www.provoscooter.com/shop/howtovar.php

The cdi has a rev-limiter that can be disabled by cutting into it, in
the right place. I don't know where.

I am not sure about the carburettor, but it probably has a washer, that
needs to be removed.

The carburettor may need a re-jet after these steps are carried out.

Can anyone give me anymore information? Thanks

Where does the article mention the ET4/50 ??....it refers to the ET2/50
!!!....

I wouldn`t mind a 4/50 but for the restrictions...

The article is just general for removing a washer from a variator. It
is not specifically for the et4 but I don't think this matters, as it
will probably be pretty similar. I didn't know a scooter driver system
looked or how the variator was restricted and I found this article
useful.

Not sure if the 4/50 has a washer on the variator....???......it may have a
restrictor washer in the exhaust manifold and a rev restrictor on the cdi
tho`....not too sure, but the ET is a nice little scoot for doing the
shopping !!!. and so cheap on the petrol 130+ mpg imp...... my Dylan does
about 80 mpg imp but it can top 70mph!!!!....

Lee the vespa et 50 can be derestricted, The washer in the variator is
removed, and the cdi has to be modified by cutting into it with a
hacksaw blade, this will remove the rev limiter, then you wil have to
up jet to suit (one size up from std.
if you require the diagram on where to cut the cdi e mail me,

After asking this i had it derestricted at a piaggio dealer,

There was just a variator washer and that was it, Mechanic said no cdi and
no exhaust restriction,
The washer thickness varies also as each engine is different and the need a
thickness of washer to stop the engne topping 30mph.

He upped the jet size in the carb and that was that,

He also said the after derestriction speed varies mine does maybe 42mph ish,
will go 50mph with wind behind though!
