I have a 1987 Honda Elite 150, and I'm trying to do the valve
adjustment, but I'm not sure where to line up the index mark. The
manual says to line up the index mark on the cam sprocket with the
cylinder head mating surface, but they don't show a picture of the
mating surface (great picture in the manual, everything is blurred
out). Can someone tell me what this mating surface looks like?

unless im mistaken, the mating surface is the horizontal line where the
valve cover meets the cylinder head. its something you kinda have to
visualize. i had an 85 150, and i dont remember the valves being
difficult to do- very similar to the helix. same "rocker adjustment cams".

I couldn't see a horizontal line, and I could only see two things that
could possibly be mating surfaces. The first was hard to see, it looked
like a hole, I had to look a bit above the timing hole to see it and
with a flashlight. The other was a metal plate that was easy to see,
and obvious as a possibility. I also noticed that when the index mark
matches with the first hole, air is expelled from the spark plug hole,
signaling a compression. Does this mean that I have found Top dead
center (TDC) as it says in the manual?

I already have the service manual. The pictures are blurred out so you
can't see what's lined up with the timing cap index mark.
