If you could really accept that you weren't ok, you could stop proving
you were ok.
If you could stop proving that you were ok, you could get that is ok not
to be ok.
If you could get that it was ok not to be ok, you could get that you
were ok the way you are.
You're ok; get it?

its not the fill cap you should be concerned with right now its the
drain bolt READ AND HEAD--DO NOT REMOVE -the bolt on the bottom of the
engine-this holds the cam chain tensioner in place ,if you remove it all
the parts will fall into the drain bucket--just dont do it --now the
drain is on the SIDE of the engine and it is a allen head bolt!!--the
fill cap is plastic also on the side of the engine-use your fingers or a
pair of plyers to remove it--DONT overfill it!! now check the air in
your tires and go riding feel free to E me if you have any questions

The drainage bolt is the large one on the bottom of the crankcase, and you
fill it through the dipstick, plastic plug on the right hand side. Measure
the level with the dipstic screwed in all the way, and the scooter level (or
close).

HONDA HAS NEVER MADE A MOTORCYCLE OR A SCOOTER IN WHICH YOU CHECK THE
OIL BY SCREWING IN THE DIP STICK!!! NEVER EVER-THE DRAIN IS NOT ON THE
BOTTOM IT IS ON THE SIDE!!! GET A CLUE MY BROTHER!!!

huh? on both the 80's ive had, my 150, and my helix, you DO check the
oil w/ the dipstick. am i missing the point here?

1) take out dipstick (unscrew)
2)wipe off dipstick
3)place dipstick back in hole
4)remove, and check oil level.

HEY, NO NEED TO SHOUT!

As far as I know, the oil is checked by unscrewing the stick, wiping it off,
and then pushing it into the hole- but not screwing it in. Kinda hokey, but
hey - it's a Honda.

I have 2 Honda Scooters and a Honda Generator that have the plastic oil
dipstick/cap. Both scoots are 250's, and one has a drain plug on the bottom
of the case and one does not. Both scooters, however, have the same oil
screen cover / drain plug on the side of the case. The generator has no oil
drain plug, you just tip it on it's side and dump the oil out the filler.
(after you remove the plastic dipstick/cap)

I usually just change the oil in the scoots every 500 to 1000 miles. They
only hold about a quart anyway. With this change frequency, checking is not
so much of an issue if there are no major oil leaks.

p.s.
honda has made so much wierd shit over the years that there are probably no
absolutes save for the fact that you can abuse the hell out of their stuff
and it will likely just come back for more...

THE POINT IS-DO NOT SCREW THE DIP STICK IN TO CHECK THE OIL-JUST PLACE
IT IN THE FILL HOLE DONT SCREW IT IN!!! THAT IS THE POINT I
HAVE WORKED FOR HONDA WAY TO LONG NOT TO KNOW BETTER
THATS WHY I HAVE THE BIG TOOL BOX

Yup, do not screw in, good thing I changed the oil frequently, it was probably
low.

Oh? I guess I'll have to remove and destroy the dipsticks on my Shadow and
Silverwing then, they are obviously aftermarket (yet they are in the
service manuals as well. odd).

MY elite 80 also had the same set-up, maybe your Hondas are different?

now I am confused -your manual tells you to screw in the stick to check
your oil on your CX AND your VT I think NOT!! I am leaving for
DAYTONA this morning and I sure dont have time for all this BUT I will
stop at my m/c shop on the way home(if I am not-well what ever) and grab
a few shop manuals and maybe just maybe you can prove me wrong--well I
am on my way to the races and to check out all the freaks in the infield
and to look for something strange to buy ILL BE BACK
