Do any owners have comments on the Piaggio Hexagon 180 or 250? I am
considering one of these after running several P-series Vespas, currently a
P200 Disk. Ok, they are ugly / plastic / whatever but I am on the verge of
becoming a convert to autos after riding a friend's tuned Speedfight 100
recently, so easy to cut through traffic! I am looking for something
practical for the city (helmet storage, manouverability, etc.) that will
also keep up with traffic on longer trips, oh yeah- that's also fun to
drive. Are these easier in traffic than the Majesty/Burgerman? - they seem
to have better visibility but I haven't been able to ride one and I am not
considering any Japanese bikes. I have test driven a Runner which shares
the same 180 engine, nice and quick but a bit too much like a motorcycle for
me...

cheers,
Fergus

REF: Do any owners have comments on the Piaggio Hexagon 180 or

------------------
To the best of my understanding, Piaggio is buying the engine and
powertrain from Honda which also uses this in their Helix. If
this is the case, this is a most reliable unit. I drive a Helix
and while my mileage is nowhere this high, several members of
Scootours, a national Helix owner club report 100,000 miles or
more on their machines. This engine has external valve
adjustment, although it seldom needs adjusting. The only weak
point on the Helix is that the plastic airhorn sometimes cracks.
A elastic cord to take some of the load off this part is
available and it seems to work well.

George on the Red Helix.

I do not know much about the Hexagon, but the very experienced scooter
salesman from whom I bought my Aprilia Leonardo 150 ccm, said to me, that
most of the laid-back scooters were very low, so that you kind of lost track
of what was going on in trafic.
He especially mentioned the Burgman, which one of his friends had bought.
I know that the Hexagon is low too.
He told me, that the only scooter, that he would ride, and he sells them
all, was the Leonardo, because you sit very high positioned, and are able to
overlook trafic.
I understand your feelings about japanese, it has to be italian, to have a
soul.
the Leo is 100% italian, except for the motor, which is bought from the
french Bombardier companys motordivision in Austereich, Rotax. It is
watercooled, 4-stroke, 4 valve, and the company makes motors for
waterscooters and snowscooters as well.
It is new to me, but I have never seen a scooter with so much speed and raw
power. I used to ride a 650 ccm motorcycle before, it was like riding a
dinosaur;-)
It is so beautifull, that people just cannot help staring. And the little 50
ccm scooterists walks up to it and enjoys to look at it.
And it is not intirely plastic, it weighs 140 kilograms and has a big room
under the saddle for helmet + something extra.
Take this into your consideration.

It is exciting to look at the scooters,- and choose;-)

greetings
Jens

Bullshit.

More Bullshit

The most upright and tallest of the megascoots.

To each his own.

Jens,
I am interested in your comments on the Leo being a good performer. I
expect it is the 125 and or 150 with the Rotax engine. I am looking for
a scooter for London and outer suburbs sometimes two up. I am used to
big bikes and was thinking of the Leo 250 with the Yam engine. Have you
ridden one? Only I suspect the 150 may be zippier at low speed in
traffic and more enjoyable to ride.

Best Regards to all

Paul

What can I say? Well, this!:
Me and my wife, carrierback, about 200 kilogrammes. 120 km/hour at any time.
150ccm.
No I have not tried the 250 ccm.
But it is almost same speed as our formerly Suzuki Savage 650 ccm.
And lots of space for to fatsi'es;-)

Greetings
"Jens"

Thanks for all the replies - I will definitely consider the Leonardo also
and try to get some test rides before I buy anything.

cheers,
Fergus
