Any help would be appreciated. :)

Dear Will -
After driving a Honda Elite 80 for 4 years - I decided to get a scooter
with a little more pep - really I wanted one just a bit more quieter and
smoother - to carry my wife and I - that we could take along on the back
of our camper.
In September I bought a 2005 Yamaha Vino 125. It is the perfect around
town bike for us that I can also lift onto the carrier on the back of my
camper. We seldom go over 35 mph with it - but I have had it up to 50
mph with just myself on it - I weigh 210 pounds.
I have only put 400 miles on the bike so far. It is a nice smooth riding
bike - much more pep than the Honda Elite 80 - quieter and smoother -
but in no way is it a highway cruiser. It is great for around town - 35
mph to 45 mph - I have taken it out on the highway for a couple of miles
- but not frequently.
Funny story - I took it to Orlando on the back of my camper and then
used it to drive around town. One time I took it on "The Green Way" a
toll road near Disney. When getting off the highway at the toll booth -
the toll taker said, "Boy you have real balls riding that scooter on
this expressway."
Most of the time - my wife and I use the scooter for going to sporting
events about two miles from home. We can avoid lots of game traffic and
they allow us to park the scooter right up next to the stadiums and
arenas for free. Sometimes we will drive our camper to another city for
the game - and then drive the last couple miles on the scooter.
With my wife and I on it - we usually drive in the 25 mph to 35 mph
range. If you want something to do 50 mph a lot of the time - I suggest
something bigger. I am 57 years old - and maybe I am just being over
cautious.

the 16 inch wheels are really nice and both my wife and i ride it
around west LA with ease.
Side note, I'm also getting my motorcylce licnese training this week. :)
The Metropolitan will not get you to 55mph. The Vino 125 will, and is a
pretty good price too. TNG makes a Milano 125 and 150cc, both of which
should be able to get you to 55mph. The Aprilia Mojito 150 Custom will be
able to get to you 60mph, but is much more expensive than the Yamaha or
TNG. It's less than the Vespa ET4. However, the Vespas are often
available used. I knew of an ET4 locally that had about 140 miles on it, a
year or so old and was being sold on consignment. I think it was selling
for $1500 or something. Pearl white with a blue seat, and in really nice
shape.

Easy...I store it in my garage next to the Miata. :-)
Only kidding - you can put a full face helmet in the storage under the
seat.

At 400 miles your engine inst really broken in, it will continue to get
faster up to around 3,000 miles!

Thanks Gregg for the feedback. I forgot about my Vino 125 still being
"fresh." With wife on the back we seldom go over 30 mph. We try to stay
out of traffic whenever we can. My first bike was a 1965 Honda 50 -
brand new for $ 215.00. Man I loved that thing. This 2005 Yamaha Vino is
so much nicer - but you know about "first love."

Take a look at the Kymco People 150 - 2 year warranty, big wheels, very
reliable. I ride on the freeways in downtown Portland and have no
trouble hitting 60+ mph. There are dealers in both Portland and
Seattle.
