I just have buyed a Yamaha Chappy (1975) on a second hand market (little
mini-motorbike "2 takt-2temps", I mean with a motor that burns the oil with
the fuel). The seller didn't knew which fuel to put in the tank.
Normal-95oct- Super 98 oct (loaded/unloaded ?)

When I ride, the motorbike makes a "tic-tic" noise and sometimes ther is a
noise of a little explosion. Could it be the unloaded 95 oct fuel that I
tanked ?

Or could it be the motoroil "2 takt-2temps" that I put in the other
reservoir. Does the motoroil needs to respond at certain specificities ?

Thanks a lot for your responding .

Wendie.

If I can remember correctly, I think a former neighbor of mine had one of
these. It was designed to run on leaded gasoline, but there shouldn't be a
problem using regular unleaded if that is all you can get (which is the
situation in the US). The oil for the oil tank should be any "2 cycle" oil.
The specification wasn't in place when this motorbike was made, but the
current specification would be "TC-3".

If you haven't done this yet, I would suggest that you change the spark
plug. It probably has been awhile since anyone has done this and it often
makes a considerable improvement on a one cylinder engine.

I hope this helps.

Hi Wendie. I have never owned or seen (to the best of my knowledge) a Yamaha
Chappie, however I once owned a Suzuki with seperate oil tank and I just
used ordinary engine oil 10w/40w. The idea of changing the spark plug is a
good one, but it also sounds as if the timing is advanced (the explosions)
if you can't do it yourself see if you can get someone to retard it
slightly.
All the best.
