Hi Folks: Does anyone know why BOINC continuously uploads and downloads
while running? The older versions never did this. My Zone Alarm
firewall icon shows BOINC uploading and downloading rhythmically about
once every second. Is this normal? Thanks.

The BOINC system is in two parts.

The BOINC client runs in the backround and controls the project API's. It also
communicates with the other part, the BOINC Manager, by using tcpip.

See if you can set Zone Alarm to ignore the BOINC traffic.

BOINC Manager uses TCP/IP to communicate with the core client; these
transactions go through network ports but don't actually leave the host
system. So they're not really uploads and downloads, in the usual sense.
