Well, you might a rise out of Dennis O'Connor. He's always good for a
thread or two. Vale.

Lurk, us? No way :)

You would not be referring to the misogynist convention a few months back,
would you be luv? :)
I will be in Prague in December, oddly enough that you should ask! In fact,
all over Eastern Europe (gutters everywhere...). Would LOVE to meet up with
any Scadians from across the miles!

Yes, that would be the nightmare that I accidentally started by taking the
piss out of people that advertise penis enhancement operations on Usenet.
*sigh*
Moving right along, you've changed your name? Have you thus changed your
persona dramatically? If so, please share your new one with us!

Bitter, yes, but not scary. Just sick and tired of the "rules of the
game" subject to change at every whim. Vale.

I am sooooo jealous :) Even though I grew up in Germany, I never made it to
Tschechoslowakei....

I am now Herr Tilke von Lehe, a German mercenary in or about 1572. I was born
in the village of Lehe on the river Geeste in 1538. Which is about as far as I
have hammered out my persona. I haven't decided yet whether to be Catholic or
Protestant, etc., etc. ...
For those familiar with German Towns, Lehe is one of several villages that,
combined, now make up the city of Bremerhaven at the mouth of the Weser river -
and incidentally my mundane hometown.

You still live in Germany? I've been to Germany a few times, most recently
last January, and will probably get back at Christmas, although my main aim
is Russia and Eastern Europe. I also studied German for a few years at uni,
but am reduced to choice phrases about beer!
Tschuss!

Hey, all in the past, please let's not start it again. I think that
everyone mistook what everyone else was saying during that argument, and I
guess it was the flame war in general that I found scary; I hate them, hate
being in them and hate even reading other people having them. Cyber
handshake?

nay, I haven't been home in 18 years - I am currently "living" in Utah. Yes,
that's right, home of the 2002 Scandalympics :) I had planned on going back a
few times, mostly to see family, but whenever I had the money something seemed
to come up where it was needed more...

ASY is a matchmaking, singles newsgroup focussed on SCA members.
Yes, that's the right SCA, but you might try asking your question on
rec.org.sca (main SCA newsgroup) or one of the dedicated historical
combat lists. (Ask on ROS, you should get addresses for a dozen or so.
I'm not up to date on the current addresses.)
I study Ireland quite a bit later (1550-1600), but as far as I know,
the styles involved a lot of short stabbing spears, large oval
sheilds, axes, swords ands thrown rocks. (At least that's what was
reported in the Roman Chronicles)
