Are the cables from the outside box to the receiver anything special

we have two receiver boxes hooked up but want to move one to another floor.
The cable runs some 40 feet to the front of the house and down about another
30 feet into the room. I REALLY don't want to re run that cable. Can I just
buy a cable run of 30 feet or so from radio shack, hook it up to a spare
connector at the satellite end ( hopefully it's easy) and run the cable into
the new room. Then hook up the already existing receiver. I'm not stealing
signal or anything like it, I just want to have the ability to move the box
between rooms if I want to.

It's RG6, nothing particularly special. you need good
compression connectors, not the RS twist-ons. SC Solid
Copper is recommended for long runs, but you should be ok
with copper clad steel. You might not have an open port on
the lnb as it was set up as a two receiver system. Don't
use a terminator on the open line. If you don't have a port
and don't want to buy /or cant get a four port lnb for your
sys, then you will have to run a multiswitch.

not a lot of detail so best I can do under the circumstances.
If you can get prview chnnals then you are ok, just call and
auth. the box/card (and hope your third party receiver isn't
blocked, best to check beforhand.)
Personally I would keep a log signal/change (like on the
back of my bill ir such at least), but what'ev.

Some dish systems use stacked lnb signal, some don't.
Directv still uses voltage switching to determine the
polerization AFAIK.
I don't know what the poster means about V H, as both
systems use circular polarization.

Theres been a technical change in lnbs,the circular lnb(DTV) with two
ports will saffice as both ports are regulated to eccept 18plus
volts,the old dish ones are vertical rated for 13 volts and the other
port H is rated for 18 volts. if you run the vertical port without a
multiswitch you will burn out the lnb.Or get your self a13v/17v
jebsee switch for this type lnb and a DiSEque switch to both
recievers#&*%@
The poster means you must pop the cover off a dual port legacy there
is no mention of circular polarity . it means it is transmitted both
vertical and horizontal not left handed nor right handed!! This was
another sells ploy to sel lnbs that will carry the extra voltage with
out burning them out;)circular polarity is still in the bush;)

Transponders transmits microwaves both vetically and horizontally. As
one polarity fades the other increases.Thus mantaining an average
signal.Your dish recieves both polarities the strongest of which
prevails. The odd and even channels do not have a specific polarity
they have both .There is a seperation of channels via the ird
voltage.This is where all the confusion comes from plus the fact that
multiple voltages being combined from multiple IRDs overwhelms the
signal.Each IRD sends approximately 16 volts to the LNB to enable it
to block the low noise.Hince multiple voltages have an unwelcomed
effect on not only reception but over heats the LNB plus the other
IRDs inline. Since current favors the paths of least resistance Multi
switches have been credited for disapating the excessive
voltage.(However a ground at each IRD is more effective!) This last
sentence is wrong and multiswitches seperated the voltage to its
intended port thus keeping the extra voltage off the vertical lnb
port.
After reading my totorial DBS decided it was best to transmit both
polarites simultaniously to avoid probigation fades! However this was
over powering the virtical ports on the old lnbs thus new ones were
made to eccept the extra voltage DicTV called it circular to avoid
having to replace all the lnbs their new signal( combined v/h
polarity) burnt out! As usual I was Two years ahead of technology!!

Great news !!I was led to believe that it had to be a narrower coned
Lnb as it might be picking up splater off the othe two birds!! But as
usual this was most likely a marketing ploy to sell the sat-c kits!!

that voltage chatter is more bs .AC current is supplied to the lnb by
the IRD for RF signal amplification, a diode would prevent the RF

My rule of thumb is 1 LNB per satelite(not per IRD)>>So why run so
many coaxs when one would be sufficient$$$Which brings me to the
Diplexor only necessary to combine & separate antenna's impediance
from the satalite's impediance@#$%^ lots cheaper to run another coax
and omit that device altogeather!!!!!
Also ignor those left and right hand polarity sells pitches no such a
thing polarity is not in either hand it's still in the bush @#$%^&

XM radio has not got to be focused via dish & lnb!
lots of campers have a built in OTA antenna using the surface as an
antenna an amplified by voltage!!
That voltage for amplification OTA port, when coupled to a dish
pointed at nimiq will pick up sats as far as 20 degrees away without
reaiming the dish using rg 59 coax!
Shouldn't FTA be working on a balaun to fine tune an omini (east west
gutter/vent cover/ect..) instead of the continuos use of that ugly
little dish & motor set up or have they
got to sell all them dishes first????$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Low profile dss attic antenna??

There is a large demand for a hidden antenna that will recieve
dss.Preferrably a muti-sat unit that does not have to be exposed to
the outside also non directional.Appartment complexs wont allow the
ugly dishes even if they are micro.Plus the pirates want their
involvement to remain un-noticed from view..Canadas new laws has made
this item a neccessity plus other countrys are expected to follow
suit. How close can you come to this with recent technology?Thanks

I don't think this technology is posible because Microwave signal in
the 10K Ghz cannot Ku-Band penetrate walls and structures.

older systems are not fixing as parts are $$$$ for

yes they are mega money item, when a dipole with a balau, would do the
same for nothing and not have to reaim itself! However who could
