I have gone out to look for myself. If I should return
before I get back, hold me until I get here.

A quick look thro' a tv channel guide produced
a web site: www.channel5.co.uk.
Maybe there's an e-mail address on there?
snail-mail address is:
Channel 5 Broadcasting
22 Long Acre
London WC2E 9LY
I'm sure Channel 5 would be delighted to hear from all their European -
by satellite - in the clear - viewers! - wouldn't be surprised if they
outnumbered the UK viewers??!
Cheers

Channel 5 never will have a 'wide coverage' via terrestrial transmitters,
there isn't any channel space available and they never intended to provide
full terrestrial coverage. I beleive they are talking about 74% coverage
(by population! not area) with 85% coverage once the last round of conversions
are completed on ch35 later this year.
Basically you either have to live in a large city or have access to a main
transmitter, otherwise watch via transponder 63.
