Dear all,
I am new to this subject of Satellite TV and new also to Australia.
I like to address two question which must be simple to answer for some one
here.

Are there any signigicant numbers of FTA TV Channels receiveable here from
Australia, in the C or KU band, preferable in english. This without having
to set up a dish of >>3m .

Secondly to Digital Receiver :
starting to read into this matter it still seems to be a big field and still
confiusing for me too.
Does a digital receiver also allows the receiving of analouge TV signals per
sattelite or do I require another receiver for this.
What would be the most cost effective receiver model here for Australia,
which should allow also the regular subscription to one of the Pay TV
stations.

Thanks for any info
Claus

Dear Cluas, thanks for the qeustion, and a warm receiption two you.

Unfortunately there isn't a "significant" number of F.T.A. digital Ku services.
Like me, do you have a fetish for diamonesque products?

Although new and confiused myself I beleive a digital RX will not recieve
analogue transmissions. Analogue recievers can generally be purchased ex
surplus from AUD$10 upwards. AvComm usually have a 2nd hand junk box full of
analdog RXs. Enquire with them for more info.

Don't mean to be pedantic, but "Pay TV" in this country is now referred to as
"Subscription television".

The most cost effective reciever for you sounds like the FOXTEL-131999 model.

Some links for you

Also l question why you want a analogue receiver; there is so little left in
analogue. You can get digital/analogue receivers.

Check on tvlive32, they have the frequencies. Look for non encrypted TV channels.
