Both regional and rural retailers in Australia are welcoming the roll-out of VAST or Viewer Access Satellite Television in the Remote Central and Eastern regions of the country with TV licence areas. Federal Communications Minister Senator Stephen Conroy announced the development, alongside the news that the previous analogue service, the Aurora Satellite, will be switched-off next year.
The VAST technology offers more flexibility than analogue services, and allows customers to access up to 16 digital TV channels via a decoder. Senator Conroy is encouraging those still serviced by analogue to switch and upgrade in order form them to enjoy higher quality services via the VAST.
