Have I mentioned today that HUGHESNET SUCKS???

At any time today have I warned all and sundry to AVOID HUGHESNET?

I am in an isolated rural area where our choices are:

-- dialup

-- a local wireless ISP who has only a few towers and whose service
limps along.

-- HughesNet

-- Verizon National Broadband

Stupidly, I dumped Veizon National Broadband in favor of HughesNet.
I'm now back with Verizon after 48 hours with HughesNet.

My little Verizon USB760 modem without an external antenna is hitting
a Verizon cell tower 5.7 MILES AWAY with signal strengths that are
steady at -68 to -77 dBm. Download speeds are 0.8 - 1.2 MB (normally
1.1 MB), upload 0.6 - 0.8 MB.

With HughesNet, my speeds were 0.4 - 0.5 down, 0.1-0.2 up and
frequently the speeds dropped to 0.07 down, 0.07 up.

And don't even ask about the wogs and ragheads that they call
"customer service" and "tech support." My 5-yr-old grandson can read
a script and tell me every 90 seconds how sorry he is that I am having
problems.
