I'm heading off to Italy 'en famile' for a few weeks in the summer, where
we'll be visiting various cities, and doing some touring in a rented car. So
I'm looking for a GPS that can double up for driving as well as hand-held
when exploring on foot.
So I've been looking at the Nuvi 250, which around here (Canada) comes with
both US and Canadian maps, and has an SD slot for loading additional map
files...
1) Can I load up the City Navigator for Europe map set on an SD card and use
it with this unit? (This may be a stupid question, but I read in another
thread about someone who bought a Nuvi 200 with US maps, but couldn't load
Canadian maps because those weren't "enabled" for his unit...)
2) Is the City Navigator for Europe map set going to be sufficient for
travel outside the cities? (i.e. Rome to Siena, to Florence, to Venice,
etc..)
Many thanks for any advice.

Yes you can.

I would suggest previewing the maps to decide that for yourself. Go to
http://europecnntpreview.notlong.com to preview.

You sure can load the mapset to the SD card, but need to register
(unlock) it for the unit. Best ask the dealer (Darel/tvnav.com is a
regular contributor here).

It sure is. It has loads of unpaved roads and farmways you never want
to use by car as well.

Many thanks for the responses. I bought the Nuvi 250, have the European maps
loaded, all working fine.
Thanks again for your advice.
