I looked everywhere and have posted a few messages in various forums
with no response.
I should be able to modify a .img file and send it to my c320. It does
not work. At least with the software I am using.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All I want to do is add missing roads (logging roads and clearcut
boundaries) to the garmin canada topo map.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay here is what I did: Remember this is an UNMODIFIED .IMG FILE
Open MAPINSTALL and using City Navigator North America NT V.8 select
and load British Columbia to the SD card (128MB)
C320 Runs normal with this map of BC
Open GPSmapedit v1.032 (newest version)
Open file gmapsupp.img from the SD card
get this error
Code:

TRY AGAIN WITH MAPINSTALL
This time using Canada TOPO V.2
and load one small area of British Columbia to the SD card
AGAIN...C320 Runs normal with this small map of BC
Open GPSmapedit
Open file gmapsupp.img from the SD card
This time it opens fine
I am not editing, or modifying this file
I save it AS IS in the polish format ---- NO PROBLEM
Now I export it (runs cgpsmapper v0090) as a img file replacing the
original gmapsupp.img
AGAIN...no problem

File :F:\garmin\gmapsupp.img is ready to use
I start the C320 with this message:
"Please use the provided PC software to load maps "
Any .img sample file that even comes with 3rd party software will not
work either...same message.
And why can't I open the img from City Navigator with gpsmapedit, but I
can with canada topo?
Any suggestions???
I can put on any SAMPLE .img \GARMIN\gmapsupp.img onto the SD card, it
does not matter what .img file. It can be samples from other software
etc..
The same error "Please use the provided PC software to load maps"
Paul
I will let you know their response.
has anyone been sucessful in loading a custom map of any kind to the
C320???

You are using the freeware version of cgpsmapper. That version does not support
routable maps so the changed map are probably not of any use for you.
I have no idea about the c320, but I have done the same (CN8euro) - compiled
maps with small alterations. That did work for my GPSMAP 60CS. If you send
me the .img file I can upload it and see if it works with my unit.
Anyway; I'd like to know what you get out of Garmin support next week when
you call them. (But remember that you won't get support on how to alter Garmin
maps...)

Yes, the SP c320 firmware is flaky and different to other Garmin units
> Open MAPINSTALL and using City Navigator North America NT V.8 select
> Open file gmapsupp.img from the SD card
> get this error
This is maybe not to be used for MapEdit? Try using the file for BC
directly from the install directory.
It still may not work due to "NT".
