Does anybody know how many MBytes of RAM and MBytes of FLASH (or ROM)
for a typical software GPS receiver? If there are significant difference
between a low-end GPS C/A receiver and a high-end RTK-capable receiver,
I would like to get the requirement of both.
For a traditional ASIC receiver, if I remember it right, a RTK-capable
receiver typically requires no more than 10M Bytes FLASH/ROM to save the
firmware, and 100M Bytes RAM to run the firmware. Correct me if I am wrong.

This will depend on the software you are using. For example:
iGO8 with text to speach requires at least 60MB of RAM, without TTS 20MB is fine.
Destinator runs OK with about 22MB, including TTS. It lacks a lot of the functionality of iGO though.
Maps of the whole US and Canada will likely require about 1.2GB of whatever memory (flash or
SecureDigital). This is surprisingly uniform for all kinds of software. But there are differences: iGO
allows loading maps by state, so you can get away with very little if you need only one or two states that
have no major cities. Destinator, Garmin and some others devide the maps into blocks (South Central
US etc..) that have highr minimum memory requirements.

I think he is asking information about the GPS receiver, not about the
navigation software. :)
A common consumer GPS receiver should fit in less than 4mb of flash
and 16mbytes of RAM, if I remeber well
