CN NA 2009 NT / Topo 2008 maping problem.

We niormally use CN 2009 in our car unit (2720) but for a trip to New
York I aquired an Etrex Vista hand held for walking around town. This
was a package deal from REI that included Topo 2008. Topo has no POI
data but does have street level maps so I made a waypoint file from CN
for places of interest such a resutants, etc and loaded it into the
Etrex. I figured I could just use the GoTo straight line function for
navigation, it gave me a bearing and a layout of the streets. Well it
didn't work very well, we often ended up on the wrong street! When I
got home I took a closer look on Mapsource and what I found was that
the POI from CN did not fall on the expected places/streets on Topo,
usually about 1/2 a block off! (area was East Village) So who is
right? when driving with CN it doesn't matter if using the Lock to
Street function but presents problems for walking navigation with the
Etrex around lower New York.

Well, I have had time to look at the problem more closely. The
biggest problem seems to be in the East Village and ChinaTown, the
reset of Manhatten doesn't seem to have the error. I don't consider
Topo to be "Routable"{ though it will calculate a route ), however, I
found a "better" solution: I still have a copy of CN V8 and found
that I could get a second unlock code for free. Now I don't think
that many street in major cities have changed in the last 5 years this
will get me a street map, the waypoints can still come from the
lastest (and Greatest) version of CN.
