Mapsource Registry

For some reason when I try to open Mapsource I get a message telling me that
' There is a problem with the Mapsource Registry, please re-install and
start again ' I have tried using the Trip and Waypoint disc to both
re-install and repair Mapsource but still get message, anyone have any idea
what to try next ?

Get MapSetToolKit from http://cypherman1.googlepages.com/
It will list all of the mapsets installed in MapSource, and has an
option to "Check registry".
If there's problems with a particular mapset you could try uninstalling
it, then reinstalling from disc etc.

I have experienced this type of problem as well. It is usually caused by a
map uninstall that does not clean up after itself and leaves some remnants
in the registry which gives you the error.

On a few occasions instead of reinstalling anything I have used a registry
checker which identified and removed the offending registry entry ant the
error message went away.

You have a reference to a map that you don't have anymore or reference to
one of your exixting maps is incomplete or incorrect.

run regedit

Search for mapsource
Untill you find the mapsource that has keys: "families" or "familiesNT" or
"products" depending of what kind of maps you have had installed.
Under the mentioned keys you will find all the maps. Delete the ones you
don't have or delete Mapsource and reinstall. Beware that you can't
reinstall an upgrade if you don't have at least one licenswd mapsource
installed, no matter how old.

under the keynames with names as the maps, are paths to your C drive where
your map files are. You can also edit these to the correct paths.

What does it list for the "Status" of the maps? Are there any that are
not "OK"?
If so, try using the uninstall option in MapSetToolKit on that mapset.
Or just uninstall all of the maps and start from scratch.
