How do I get geocaching .gpx files on to my 60CSx? I'm guessing as
waypoints...

Once loaded will they show on top of my loaded maps...CN & Topo?

Thanks

Open the *.gpx file in MapSource and then upload them to the 60CSx.
They are basically a group of waypoint with a symbol of their own.
There is a page on the GPS for working with the Geocache stuff but I've
not used it.

There is no way (that I know of) to open a *.gpx files from that GPS
receiver. Some models (nuvi for example) will find *.gpx files on
memory cards during startup but none of the handhelds do that as far as
I know.

Thanks Jack...what I would like to have is a separate map set that would
cover a radius of apprx 75 miles from my home and show the .gpx
waypoints within that area. That way when geocaching I could call up
that mapset but when not geocaching the way points won't be cluttering
up the display.

Maybe this is not possible.

.gpx files are displayable on Nuvis? Wasn't aware of that.

You're right, separate maps with waypoints assigned to or embedded in
them is not possible.

When you do a Find > Waypoints, you can specify the symbol of the
waypoints that you want to see displayed and then you'll only see the
icons with that one symbol. Or all symbols can be displayed.

Also, in the Map Setup you can choose the zoom level where user
waypoints become visible. By setting that at a lower level, you're not
bothered with the icons until you get to the set level.

No, not really displayable. But if you upload waypoints to the nuvi the
software will find them in a *.gpx file and then you can move them into
your favorites. Or something like that.

You can make numerous "sets" for geocaching.
Pick a central location set a radius of say 25 miles.
All geocaches within the area can be downloaded as a .gpx file.
Upload that .gpx file as a POI set.
Make numerous POI sets and load to your GPS, each with a different name.
When you want to find the caches in the area you can select that POI set and
they will appear on your unit.
I have many of these set up for various cities and towns that I travel to
from time to time.
When I am there and have some spare time I call up the POI set and go find a
cache or two.
Also have POI sets for ham radio repeaters, Good Sam campgrounds and
Military Fam Camp sites.
Using POI sets allows you to have whatever you want displayed only when you
want it.

Your nüvi's own Favorites are stored in a GPX file called current.gpx.
You can copy this file to your computer, edit it, then upload it back into
your nuvi. The points will show in the same was as Favorites and you can
give them an appropriate symbol so you can distinguish them from the
normal Favorites.

Hi there,

the easiest way to get your Geocache files onto your Garmin unit is to
install the IE.x Plug-in "Garmin Communicator" !!

http://www8.garmin.com/products/communicator/

Once installed, you can go to geocaching web sites like www.geocaching.com
and directly download geocache .gpx files onto your Garmin unit.

That's the way how I do it.

Hope this helps.

I believe EasyGPS will open .GPX files and upload them to the 60CSx

I think there is still a free version available.
