Hello everyone!

I wrote a program to retrieve the Map ID's for installed garmin maps
as well as from an gmapsupp.img file (when I was still planning on
buying a garmin)

Anyway, I thought that some of you might find a use for it.

you can download it from here

I may have use for the program since I make my own topo maps but I can not
figure out how to download it. Can you give me some guidance?

No problem. Just go here and follow the prompts for a free user.

As for the application of this tool...

In order to use garmin maps on your gps, you need a unique seriel key for
your gps. The key is the product of an algorithm using your device's Unit
ID and the Map ID of the map being sent. It can be a pain to find the map
ID sometimes, that's why I wrote this tool. Should I post a copy of the key
generator as well?

I haven't been here that long and thus havn't gotten a feel for the group's
views on piracy. I'll admit that I'm a big pirate and don't buy software
when I can get it for free. Conversely, I make all of the software I write
free.

So would the majority be affended if I was to post a key generator for all
garmin maps?

Point taken. I'm a lousy pirate with no regrets :).

Better?

As long as you have the map in gmap format, there is an XML file in
the map directory structure, in there (plain text) you will find that
amongst other stuff.

Get MapSetToolKit from here: http://sites.google.com/site/cypherman1/
Then run it, and it should list all of the Garmin maps you have
installed on your PC, with their ID numbers.
