Australian one. If this is true you can be helped.
This is a unit you can connect to the USB port and it comes up as a
disc drive onm the PC, correct? If yes, look in the Garmin folder in
the drive. You will see some files: one is called gmapbmap.img (maybe
about 5MB in size), the other is gmapprom.img and is likely about 2GB
in size. The first one is the world wide basemap, the second one your
CN map. Try renaming the first one to gmapbmap.xxx, start the unit and
repeat your search and test if you miss something.
Note: some units use the basemap for display starting at a scale of
12km. So, if you zoom out a lot it might happen that there is no map
any more after you renamed the basemap file. You can easily change
back.
