Hey Jax, this is a screamer, can you imagine the racket, @6000rpm, and
a two stroke to boot.

Even weirder, this thing is really closer to a diesel than a normal
spark ignited internal combustion engine, notice it'll burn anything
from
Diesel to JP8, looking at the drawing it looks like it even has a blower
(the not a Rootes)

Interesting motor, what's your point?

Cheers
Marty

Some other bits of interest (quote from web site)

"This engine uses Piaggio”s patented Direct Injection Process that
Piaggio calls their “FAST” technology. Piaggio is the manufacturer of
the world famous “Vespa” scooter. The Marine Corps objective is to
eliminate gasoline in the battlefield. "

The wonderful Vespa!

Now why does the Marine Corps wish to eliminate gasoline from the
battlefield? ;-o

And yet another:

"The military has a mandate called the “single fuel initiative” to keep
gasoline off the battlefield front lines and ships."

But if there is no gasoline how does one fill one's Zippo?

I saw it in my new Soundings copy this morning. I'm not sure the sound levels
would be above a diesel (Yanmars put out 97 db at three feet, high enough so
OSHA would complain with a lawsuit if the thing were used in a workplace), but
figure soundproofing would be needed.

I posted it for those clowns who think that the lightest weight a modern 27 hp
engine can get is 287 pounds/

because their trucks run on multi-fuel (spark plug fired diesel) engines.

Ummm.......I think kerosene might be a better choice, no? Though it
might be an incentive to quit smoking, better yet, fill it with naptha!

Whoooosh!

Nah, I found a press release in my new copy of Soundings this morning.

ah, it uses a water jet instead of a prop, but it is a piston engine.

shit for brains, the engine picture refered to showed a water jet. The engine
also is sold without any drive train, and is sold with various gearboxes. The
engine is sold to the military which has varying needs. you can buy one of
those engines if you want to and put it anywhere you want, including where the
sun don't shine.
