Is it possible to add a window to the front of a Class C over the cab when it
does not originally have one. I have a 1998 Coachmen, Catalina, Sport. It
does not have the window up front. Is there an aftermarket installation? I
understand this is probably not OPTIMAL but is it possible? Does anyone have
any technical experience in this?
Thanks in Advance

IMHO: I have never seen a front Class "C" cabover window that does not or will
not leak......I have rebuilt my cabover bed because of a leak and so has most
everyone who has a front window....window is not worth the trouble.....

Yes, but it is a pain where Exedrin can't reach. Been there, done
that, and don't recommend it. Turned out not to be a Big Deal in
terms of benefit. I suppose SOMEONE has an aftermarket kit but we
built from scratch.

If you can find me a conversion kit to nicely patch the hole left
when you remove the window, I'll sell you mine.

Another vote for "Just say no". A window would not technically
be very difficult to add- most class C coaches have no framework in
that area whatsoever, at least in the dozens that I have R&R d the
front window to reseal after the flexing made them leak.

Really- you're much better off without the window.

The older LazyDazes like mime(1987) have a front cabover window. It does not
leak. The new LazyDazes remove it because of heat(?) and useless(?) according
to them.
Acturally, the cabover area of mime has 3 windows(front, left, right) plus
roof window(also as an escape route).

Our '83 Lazy Daze HAS leaked at the front window, AND it was a
pain to find and stop it. That was a few years back, and I can
only hope it hasn't started up again. Also, there is a crack
running completely across the outer layer of glass that developed
from a stray stone. Additionally, since the window is sloped,
condensation on the frame drips down onto the bed - or it did
until I sealed off the whole caboodle with styrofoam and a cover
panel.

THIS is why Lazy Daze no longer installs these windows. There are
no problems with the cabover side windows nor the roof vent. This
is why they are included with all class-C's with a cabover bed.

Thanks for all the good inputs. The Ney's have it! So why do they continue to
build them and sell them? Novelty?

Be darned if I know why, I do not look out mine, have it covered inside with
an insulator to keep out the heat. Really have not seen any use for it, the
book says don't put children up there while driving so unless they were real
tall they could not see out and plus they should be belted, so if any one
knows, how about posting as to why they have that front window in a Class C

So that you can continue to reap the esthetic rewards of your cute party
lights, your Coleman area illumination, and the floodlight enhancement
of your Picasso tree hangings even after you've gone to bed.

That, combined with the possession of a cellphone, will also ensure that
you will not be burgled, robbed, or assaulted no matter where you choose
to camp. And if an intruder should enter your camp in spite of all that,
you can squash your butt up against the window, and moon him into
surrender.

Yeah, I think they're probably a good investment to have on a Class C.
If you camp in places other than Flying J's and gated, patrolled RV
Parks, they should pay for themselves in one season.

So you have something to chalk and silicon on your days off!

Actually I have had more trouble with the darn amber clearance lights
developing leaks into the living area than the window.

How much flex is the front cab / window surface supposed to have? Right
under the amber clearance lights and above the window you can push on the
exterior shell and flex it in and watch the window move... just a little bit
but it is noticeable.
