I would like to know from all you experienced kind people the following:

a) When taking delivery of a new "Class A" RV, will the wheel alignment
and wheel balance be correct?

b) Does Ford do this, before Winnebago gets the engine and chassis ?

OR

c) Does Winnebago set all to the correct specifications ?

OR

d) Do I get this done and approx how much $$ do I allow for this?

Thanking you

Aubrey

In general, do not expect the unit to be in alignment. It is best to have the
alignment checked and adjusted. If the salesperson says otherwise, go see the
manager. You need to know, and it should be done as a dealer prep, but few do
it. As a result you may end up with an obnoxious handling unit. Spend a
little extra now or pay $2,000 for new tires in a year.

Ok...The wheel balance should be ok...That should have been done when the
vehicle left Ford...It probably was aligned at that time also but...the
people at Winnebago or wherever had severly modified the vehicle...changed
suspension components, ride height, weight distribution all of which impact
upon the alignment....After the A is finished and sent to the rv dealer he
should have checked its driveability to include the alignment...Take it for
a test drive. If it pulls to either side of the steering wheel is not
level...Note that ...Insist upon an alignment check and adjustment....You
should not have to pay for the initial one...The vehicle should be
roadworthy when you take delivery of it...A proper alignment is a
roadworthiness issue

That is the problem. They do it to the frame as it leaves Ford. According to
the alignment experts, the MH needs to be aligned when the MH is on the frame
and it is loaded up with all your goodies.

I know the manager a Joesam's ( a large truck alignment dealer in Orlando ).
Spartan was having alignment problems with their chassis and bought equipment
from Josams ( they also make laser alignment equipment ) Spartan aligned their
chassis right out of the factory and guess what, they still have probems with
alignments.

Have your MH aligned after you have it loaded up. Also they never balance the
wheels. You will not find any wheel weight on your unit.
