Good morning,

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a nice campground in the
Mohican area in Ohio. We have stayed at "Smith's" on Wally rd. several
times and have enjoyed it. I am curious if anyone can suggest a great
place to camp (with travel trailer) that has great scenery, maybe a
water feature or two.

Just looking to try something new this year.

Sincerely,

Kyle

I'm going to be up in that area this weekend for Heritage Days at Malabar
Farms.

There are several campgrounds in the region and I haven't tried any of them
accept for the one that is right next to the state park campground at
Mohican. This link might get you started.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at the links several times and
see that there are a lot of available campgrounds in the area. Just
thought I might get a personal testimony..
I appreciate your reply. Enjoy your visit. May I suggest the Malabar
Inn for dinner. Very simple and quiet but we enjoyed ouselves.

be good,

Kyle

I have been to the Malabar Inn many times, I'm often up in that area. The
produce stand next to it is stocked by Olivia (one of the State Park
employees) and on the honor system. The spring water there is untested, but
there has never been a problem with it that I know of. People often fill up
jugs there.

Kyle and John,

Check out this campground located on the north side of Pleasant Hill Lake.
It is located west of State Route(SR) 39 and east of SR 603, right on State
Route 95 at the Richland/Ashland county line. It is about 5 miles E/SE of
Malabar Farm SP. It also has access to Pleasant Hill Lake including a boat
launch and swimming beach. They have several different camping areas
including some with utilities. It is one of the campgrounds that is under
the management of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District in
cooperation with the Corp of Engineers who maintain the dams that created
the lake(s). Here is the link http://www.mwcdlakes.com/pleasant.htm .
There is also the Ohio State Park Campground, located south of Loudonville
and Wally Road on SR 3 and the Clearfork River; I believe this is open year
round . The Lodge at Pleasant Hill State Park is located near the dam on
the south side of Pleasant Hill Lake. This is the hotel/lodge that is open
year round and the site of many activities sponsored by various
organizations. All of this is surrounded by the Mohican State Forest.
Living in the woods south of Butler, one might say this is in my
neighborhood. Fran

Fran,
Thanks for the info. I noticed this campground while searching
through the area today. Looks like a possibility.

Thanks for the reply.
