I have read posts and links like http://www.phrannie.org/moisture.html about
roof coating RVs. They recommend a roof coat. that clearly states it is
elastomeric. I couldn't find the KoolSeal brand locally but three stores had
Black Jack Ultra reflective white elastomeric roof and mobile home coating.
It also says it is for RVs. Does any brand have an advantage over another?

Thanks in advance,
Charles

I've used a product called "snowroof" with GREAT success on my regular
composition house roofs, and on my dad's fiver - it is pure white, and
stays flexible over it's lifespan, which has been at least 10 years so
far... It applies best with a paint roller of large surfaces, but a
brush works well on seams or smaller areas. It takes a good 24 hours or
so in warm, dry weather to setup properly, and cannot be applied in wet
conditions. It sold for about $7 at our local ACE hardware store when I
last bought some, and I wouldn't use anything else on a leaky roof!

I used to put these roofs on for a living. The most important things in
application is to:
Have a clean base
Rather than one thick coat, 2 coats applied at right angles Make sure it
dries before you recoat.
Elasto, is usually cured by ultraviolet light so it has to be done in the
sunlight.
Pay attention to the spread rate the maker suggests 75-100 sq. ft per gallon
is not uncommon.
The more even the coat is the longer it will last.
I would also wash seasonally if dirty or tree sap builds up.
It is not the coating for under ponding water.

Thanks for the advice. I think you just saved me some greif! I have had a
tarp over it so I can do the prep work even when it is raining. It wouldn't
have had it exposed to direct sunlight to cure.

I plan to have the RV parked under a carport 90% of the time. When I take it
out it will be a week at a time four weeks a year. If it ponded for a week
would that present a problem? If so what it the coating for ponding?

Thanks,
