We purchased a 2002 Winnebago Vista, which is based on the VW Eurovan
(slighty larger than the Rialta). Our local VW dealers can't/won't even do
a basic oil change because they have no way of lifting it.

Anyone know where we can go? We can take it to the RV dealer, but they are
a bit pricey and probably can't perform major service when taht time comes.

San Jose CA area. Thanks.

Have you tried Bob Lewis VW in South San Jose? I had a VW Eurovan Camper
and I noticed that they serviced the Rialta there.

We now have a Roadtrek and our local Chevy dealer services that. I have
also heard that Peninsula-RV Truck in Foster City is good. There is always
Camping World in San Martin.

Bob Lewis VW in South San Jose refused to service it.

I didn't know Camping World in San Martin serviced RVs. I thought they were
only a retail outlet.

That's a blessing in disguise. I have enough experience dealing with
VW dealers that I wouldn't go near another one on a dare.

Unfortunately, with your rig you may be in a bind when (not *if*) you
need major drive train work...

BAD, Camping World doesn't do oil changes on anything, as far as I
know, and they're very limited on the types of "repair" that they WILL
do. When I needed a (simple) repair of a water line that had burst a
fitting, they referred me to a shop in Morgan Hill; "we don't do that
stuff here", I was told by CW. In my experience, CW are primarily
"installers" and not "fixers".

I see your point, although I haven't had any difficulty getting
service on my 19' Dodge Class B -- whether the work was chassis- or
RV-related.

However, those who drive RVs with VW drive trains face an extra burden
imposed by certain incompetent and ill-equipped VW service agencies.
