Hi - I will be in Portland (at the end of a long trip) for a couple of days
in July. I have it narrowed down to three -

Jantzen Beach RV Park
Columbia River RV Park
Portland Fairview RV Park

We are really only there to pick up my son who is spending the summer at
Reed College. All three of these camps seem to be about 20 minutes from the
school.

We stayed at Jantzen a few years ago. Well kept up, but a lot of airport
noise (we have a tent trailer). I also felt like I was living in the worlds
largest strip mall. Since this is the end of our trip, there is no need to
shop.

Any comments on the other two?

TIA!

Laura

I don't have many comments on the other 2 except to say that both could have
airport noise, depending on which way the planes are landing, taking off.
About 90% of the air traffic there is east to west, or west to east.

If it were me, and it is not, I would go north into Woodland, WA. West of
Woodland there is a park called Columbia Riverfront RV Park, right on the
bank of the Columbia River, clean and very quiet. The drive to Reed will be
about 37 miles, which really isn't bad.

Their phone number is 800-845-9842

IMO, you'll be more relaxed than at the other parks mentioned.

We stayed at Fairview twice (one night, and two nights) in May. Easy
place to get into/out of, and everything looks pretty good. I've also
stayed at Jantzen in the past, and would recommend Fairview over it.

Still some jet traffic - that goes with being anywhere on the Columbia
near Portland, I guess, and there are also occasional trains, but most
of the short-term spots are well away from the tracks.

We're camped at Roamers Rest RV Park in Tualatin, just south of Tigard.
Quiet, right on the Tualatin River, and they have the best rest rooms and
laundry facilities in the country. There are fancier places in the area, but
too snooty to accommodate our ten-yr-old Pace Arrow. I'd opt for this end of
town, given where you're heading, rather than trying to wiggle through the
city from the north end to Reed.
