This is a joke, right?
I just purchased a 2001 Aerolite 28 FDB for $3000 from a DEALER.

Notes
MICROWAVE, AWNING, WATER HEATER, AND AIR CONDITIONER ARE STANDARD
EQUIPMENT IN 1999 & NEWER MODELS AND ALSO IN 1998 & OLDER DLX MODELS.
Average Retail Value — An average retail vehicle should be clean and
without glaring defects. Tires and glass should be in good condition.
The paint should match and have a good finish. The interior should
have wear in relation to the age of the vehicle. Carpet and seat
upholstery should be clean, and all power options should work. The
mileage should be within the acceptable range for the model year.
(The above info. was cut & pasted from http://www.nadaguides.com)
Add'l Info.: The trailer is loaded with options, in excellent
condition, & an above average retail value, but priced to sell at a
low average retail price!
I saw the trailer today. It is spotless and looks like it was never
used.
The OP's husband was very patient, and a good teacher, as this complete
newbie asked all kinds of questions.

That's great to hear but be advised that trailer is no where worth $9,000.

That very well may be and if someone feels that an RV is to them worth the
cost to pay a few or 4 thousand dollars over what it's actually worth by the
industry, more power to them (notice I said 'industry' not individual
preference).
I personally wouldn't purchase something like that if I can get something 3
or 4 years newer, from the same manufacture with the same high quality for
the same price. (I also searched rv trader, BTW)
Hi,
What it's worth is what someone is willing to pay for sure. But it's
a high price for a 1998 Layton, IMO. Even decked out with all the
options on the NADA web site I couldn't get it to reach 7K. There are
2 or 3 year newer Laytons selling for less then 9K at dealers. The
NADA site is pretty optimistic price wise. It's loan value would be a
better indicator of it's true worth.
Take care and Happy Campin...

I didn't find the exact model they have but did not find the
spread you claim. Any rig with a low price would be suspect
to me. Given the choice between a like new model 2 years
older than a well used model, I'd take the like new any
time. I think it's a high price as well but to the right
buyer and a decent offer, it could be what someone is
looking for.

Hi Rich, yes I agree it's a high price as well. What I found
surprising was the prices on similar Skyline trailers of the
same vintage. I didn't find the same thing Andy claims with
newer models selling for the same price.
I'd expect a higher price for a slide-out model from Skyline
but find 9 grand steep for a conventional trailer. The
equipment listed is common with stocked models at dealers
lots. Don't tend to see many "stripped" units <g>.

The "Travellers" don't, usually, stay in one place long enough? <G>
Yabut, their's usually have slide patio doors ;)
