Your type of question has been asked hundreds of times in this ng, but I
will give my advice/opinion again. When making the jump from tent to
the wonderful world of pop-up campers, spend some time doing a little
research! Go to several different dealers and look at many makes and
models of campers. Check for:
1. The quality/workmanship of the camper
2. The size and weight relative to what your tow vehicle can handle
3. The features and options *YOU* want the most
4. The price you are willing to pay
You are doing the right thing by reading posts in this group and gaining
knowledge from the experience of all the friendly participants here!
However, what is important to others may be less important to you (and
vice-versa). So read and soak in the opinions of the messages here, but
ultimately YOU make the choice based on what best fits YOUR needs (don't
just buy a camper X made by company X just because many posters here
feel it is the best - to them it most likely is, but it may not be the
best choice for you)
OK - enough ranting. Since you DID ask for specific advice on Camplite,
I will offer my OPINION. I looked at Jayco, Starcraft, Dutchmen, and
Camplite when I was going to buy my camper (unfortunately there is no
Coleman dealer close by in my area). IMHO, the quality of the Camplite
campers that the dealer had in his showroom was not up to par with what
I saw in the Starcraft and Jayco. This is based on MY OPINION and the
five units of Camplite that my dealer had in stock - this may not be
indicative of ALL Camplites made. Look them over carefully (open
cabinets and look at the framing boards - ones I saw looked weak and had
MANY knotholes and were VERY rough-cut). Look under the camper at the
frame, peek behind curtains at where the lifter supports attach to the
roof. Then go look over some other makes and models and make your
choice based on your own observations!
I hope this helps!
