Hi - I'm thinking of buying a Toyota Tundra 4x4 Extended Cab V8 to
replace my Toyota Tacoma 4 cylinder Prerunner (same as 4wd except 2wd).
I'm towing a Chalet hard side folding trailer, which loaded probably
weighs less than 2,000 pounds. Add the camping gear and canoe in/on the
truck = a few hundred more pounds.

The 4 cylinder does ok, but it's straining when towing over the mountain
passes here in the Pacific Northwest, so instead of trading into a
Tacoma 6 cylinder, I'm thinking of going with the Tundra V8. Not just
for the extra power but for the better ride the Tundra offers.

I'd like to hear any and all opinions on the Tundra. Thanks in advance.

The Tundra was named the best all around pick up by Truck Trend magzine
after being compared to Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge. I would not hesitate to
buy one.

I have one and love it. I have only towed my twin engine seado boat. It is
only 1500 lbs or so but, The big v8 pulls it like it was not even there.
The best part is the quiet car like ride. I understand that next years
model may have a different rear end to help the gas mileage (18 highway)

Have you had any problem with vibration at highway speeds? I've been
researching the forum at www.tundrasolutions.com, and there are quite a
few reports of this problem.
The V8 and the quiet car like ride are big factors in my possible
purchase, and of course overall Toyota quality. I bought a new '93 Camry
now with 64,000 miles on it, and it's still just like the day it was
new.
