We have always used fitted sheets in our campers. They fit well over the egg
ctae foam. I have quenn size sheet on my king bed right now because it was what
I had in the other pop-up and I just haven't replaced it yet. It really isn't
big enough so I am going to get a King size fitted. It will probably be just a
little too big but I will just tuck it or use some of the elastic straps
someone suggested.

It has been exactly the same weather here. I still have the camper popped up. I
just can't bring myself to fold it up yet. I am off work Thursday so I guess I
will close it up then. Actually we are still going to be in the 60's thursday
and then into 50's Friday and weekend. I am chomping at the bit to get out and
really camp. Maybe the first weekend of April if we don't completely return to
winter.
Counting the days...
We bought cranberry colored king-size fitted sheets (to match the decor of our
Bayside). I had measured how wide the fitted sheet needed to be (it was too
wide as it came from the store). I then folded it in half, right sides
together, and pinned it together right down the middle. Then sewed it along
there with the machine, and you'd think it was custom fitted to the mattress.
Yes, we used the egg crate under it; the sheet stays on beautifully, and fits
perfectly.
Cheap too - got the sheets at Walmart for about $7.99 each.

There's also a place on-line to buy RV sheets, although they're pretty
pricey. http://www.sheetsusa.com/rv.htm

Janice: Who would've known there is a website for custom
fitted Camper sheets? I was pretty darn tempted to buy, but the
prices for the Coleman mattresses sure are a bit steep, you
weren't kidding.
I certainly appreciate all suggestions.

i posted a similar question to the group not too long ago, when we brought our
utah home. i received some great ideas but in the end i got lazy and decided
to go ahead and order the coleman sheets. mistake! they are <i think> 70%
polyester, really rough feeling, pilling slightly after just one wash, and i
can tell they are just not going to last. in short, for $100 bucks...they are
really crappy sheets.
we slept in the camper one night a couple of nights ago, in the driveway. ok,
so we got anxious :). anyway, it was a good learning experience. i found that
i didn't want to mess with sheets and blankets after all. decided to keep a
mattress cover and the coleman fitted sheet on the mattress. and use sleeping
bags ontop. this way i don't have to deal with 'making the beds' while on
holiday. not to mention that sheets and blankets just aren't as warm and cozy
as sleeping bags and the kids can't fight over who 'stole the covers'.
btw....last year we ordered from llbean a wonderful double sleeping bag that
has sheets! the sheets zip in and zip out for easy washing. kind of the best
of both worlds. we love that bag and it fits perfectly on the coleman king
size mattress.

There is a similar product called HackSack. I had one in my Scamp and found
that it doesn't compare to my present TravlSack.

Yep-I would gladly sew them for you here, but I think the mailing costs
back-and-forth would make it not worth it, yes?
Standard fullsize bed is 54" x 76". Usually 8" to 15" deep.
Coleman fullsize bed is 48" x 77", 4" deep. Taos is 48" x 72".
Standard kingsize 78" x 80".
Coleman kingsize 70" x 77".
Standard queensize 60" x 76" or 60" x 80".
You can see that most standard size sheets won't be a great fit on a
Coleman mattress. We got the Coleman sheets and they're very poor
quality but at least they fit! I'm thinking about buying some of those
wonderful T-shirt material sheets in queen size for our king bunk. Not
only are they comfortable, they have a lot of stretch in them and
probably will fit pretty well. If we get king sheets I'll have to alter
them somewhat.

Before you buy.
I'm leaning towards the idea of the Foam Egg Crate Mattress
Covers & Fitted Sheets. Our 95 Coleman Chesapeake has the one
King Bed & One Double Bed. The husband kicks a lot in his
sleep, and he claims I snore (imagine that?), so we frequently
use both beds. It's better than arguing in the middle of the
night when we're both half asleep. Besides, we all fit better
and sleep more comfortably with that arrangement when the 2 dogs
are with, as they sneak in bed with us at night while we are
sleeping (admittedly, they're very spoiled). Not too much fun
when trying to comfortably fit 2 adults and two 50+ lb. dogs in
one camper bed.
All the retailers are having 'white sales' now, so I'll be
keeping my eyes open for those great bargains... I like the idea
of the Kmart Martha Stewart Sheets too.
QUESTION?: Where do all of you store the FOAM EGG CRATE
mattress covers when the trailer is closed, driving too & from
the campgrounds? Thanks

We keep the egg crates on the bunks; sheets also. I wash the sheets every 2-3
trips depending on need. We have never had any trouble closing the top. The
only time we had problems was when we tried to keep sleeping bags on beds also.
Happy Camping!
We have not had a problem with the foam getting crushed or mushed. We have used
the same pads for 3 or 4 camping seasons. I think you will find these make a
world of difference.
Hi Gale,
The egg crates and fitted sheets stay on the beds all the time. Just remove
the sheets for washing and drying.

When we slide in the beds and lower the top, the following are on top of the
mattresses...fitted sheets over egg crate foam, comforter and pillows. There
is about six inches of clear space above the top of the mattress when the top
is down, and plenty of room.

Gale, I'll agree to do it for you, if you can get it here. I'd have to send it
back, of course.
Too bad we can't email objects yet. ;-)

Our 1995 Coleman Rio Grande has one bed that is "72 x "72 and the other one is
"72 x "48. The standard queensize sheets aren't long enough and the kingsize
are too big in both directions, but I use a kingsize anyway and just ignore the
extra fabric.

Hi Joy,
We have one of those Select Comfort air beds at home, so we're used to being
able to adjust the mattresses at whim.
The egg crates do help a lot. They add a little "squish" to the otherwise firm
mattresses.
We got ours at Walmart; they had the best price. Anywhere with a decent size
bedding dept. should sell them near the regular mattress pads.
I was at KMART today and they have a -25% sale on ALL Mattress
Pads incl. the Foam Egg Crate type. I bought a King Size & a
Full Size for our 95 Chesapeake. The sale runs from today thru
3/16/00. If they don't have the size you need left in stock,
go the Service Desk and (a.) Ask them to call other stores in
your area to find one & hold it for you, and/or (b.) Ask for a
raincheck on the sale price for the next time your size comes
back into stock. HAPPY SHOPPING!

Sam's Club has some right now that cost $20 for a king size.
They are 2" thick and very dense. They seem to be the
best quality egg crate I have seen anywhere, and the price
is terrific.
