Where can I find Thermal blankets for bunk end solar protection?

I apologize, because I know this has been discussed about a million times.
I'd like to find the nicer variety solar blankets that I can throw over each
bunk end when I set up, and bungee in place, for solar protection. Seems
even with the AC going full bore, the direct sun still cooks each bunk area
during the day, making a nice indoor snooze impossible!

I've looked (probably not hard enough) in the Camping World catalog and
site, and a little on Campmor.

Am I missing it?

Thanks for help locating any sources for these.

Not quite what you are asking for - these are premade, but:

Maybe this is too logical, but why don't the pop-up manufacturers build this
in??

Probably because this is a fairly new idea. Like most other ideas for
modifications, they come from the public or small companies and not major
manufacturers. If there is enough interest, they will pick-up the idea.
Just a thought, Turn Key

'cause during the winter, you wouldn't want them - then you want all the sun
you can get.

I received several large packages at work with the reflective bubble
wrap ... enough that I pieced together complete covers for both bunk
ends! It really makes a difference.

Since then I notice places that have the stuff on sale ... hardware
stores like Home Depot and Lowe's, but it seemed kinda pricey there.
I seem to recall the Camping World store having good sized rolls for a
decent price, but I might be wrong on that because Camping World
always seems to be higher than other places.

Take a look at this website for Reflectix, which I think is the sole
manufacturer of the stuff after two companies merged within the last
year or so:
http://www.reflectixinc.com/retail.asp
http://www.reflectixinc.com/smallproject.asp

I'm sure the owner of http://www.popupgizmos.com/ had the same idea as
I did ... buying bulk rolls of this, customizing it for pop-ups, and
making a profit from it. Only he did more than think about it!!!

Regards,
Scott

You can get the reflective thermal blankets at Walmart, Kmart or any simular
stor for about $2.00. It is just a thin sheet of mylar. Coleman carries a thick
quilted one in their camp stores or on line I'm not sure of the price at the
moment. We use the Coleman blankets and have been happy with the results. Chuck

I am planning to get some of the material too so I am monitoring
replys to you post. One thing I do until I can get the material is
close the curtains to the bunkends and take any naps on the wrap
around sofa. The A/C discharge hits the curtains and drops right down
on me while I take a nap. I found that I need some light cover to
avoid getting cold during my nap even with the temp 95 outside.
Shutting off the bunkends during a hot day will really help keep the
center of the trailer cool. We don't really use the bunkends during
the day. Just at night to sleep.

Refletic (sp?) is available from Lowes and a few other places. Dick's Sporting
Goods has a nice "space blanket" that costs about $10.00. It would be a nice
choice to use until you can get something made. In fact, it would be sufficient
most of the time as it is. Don L.

I have a Bantam 17B, I bought covers from POPUPGIZMOS, they fit great
and are very sturdy. I even use them in cold weather, they keep the heat
in.
I used the cheap thermal blankets, they were a pain in the a$$ to put
on.
The "gizmos" come with clips and are a snap to put on and they fold up
easily
I can't say enough about them, good service and made to fit your PUT.
Cost about $60+, well worth it!

Been campin' so just catching up.....
We bought the laminated ones from Cabela's @ about $10 US ea.
When it is hot out we use silver side out. When it's cold we use
olive-drab side out. One won't completely cover the king bed but
is a big help.

We just went to Walmart bought a couple of the aluminized emergency blankets
for 89 cents each and clipped the on with clothespins. Worked great. at
this price I bought a couple extra so when the tear up I can clip a new one
on.

We used them the last time we went camping and boy did they help keep the
camper cooler. It had to be at least 10 degrees cooler than without those
blankets. We used bungee cords to keep them on.

John, bought two 10x12 uv tarps today from Tractor Supply (TSC).
$13.99 each, may be better deals out there- maybe worse. Seemed to do
the trick though, camper does seem cooler now with the tarps and newly
installed 110v a/c unit.

Guys, I got my reflective bunk end covers at Campmor.com. I've gotten their
catalog for many years but in the last several I've gotten great deals in
their Web Bargains section.

REI also sells them on-line for $11.95. I'm pretty sure you don't have to
be a member to buy there.

http://www.rei.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=57703&prmenbr=8

This is the same price that they sell for in the store. I don't know if you
have an REI store close to you or how much shipping would be (although
they're not very heavy).
