Hi all

In case you're not familiar with it, this is the mini-Coleman softtop
with single wing. We bought it for camping with our Honda Civic, since
it has so little towing weight. It's bare inside, with pop-up table /
benches that travel as a second single sized bed. We call it a "couples
trailer", as it meets the needs of two campers really well.

Ours is in pretty fair shape. There are cosmetic stains on the outer
canvas part of the roof, and some regular wear and tear. The floor has
scuffs and the upolstery looks its age, but no tears. The fit of the
screening and plastic cover on one window is a little funky - it had
been restitched when we got it and the plastic never zipped up right.
Functionally, it's fine.

We bought it in 92, and thought we'd never consider any other mode of
camping. Now we are thinking longer travel trips, and are going to
research converted vans or small RV campers. I am wondering if any of
you in the know might have an idea of its fair market value ? Is there
a 'blue-book' for trailers ? If it makes any difference, we are located
in Oregon.

Thanks,
Gary Wood

Yes. The N.A.D.A. folks finally included rv's on their web site & you can
check out the prices of just about anything there by year or make. The
site is
http://www.nada.com/usedcarguide/links.asp?url=www.nadaguides.com/ValuesHome
.html. You can get five freebies each day, but they limit you to that.

I took the liberty of looking up the 1988 Colorado for you and got a low
retail of $670, an average retail of $800, and a high retail of $870.

Gary, we bought a '88 Coleman Colorado from a private individual in
the Tacoma area last year. The cushions are/were like new, the vinyl
floor in excellent shape, no sign of dampness or water damage under the
pull out bed or dinette, dinette is in excellent shape. Some normal
staining on the top of the canvas, but the windows were and are
excellet shapenew. Only tears in covering were at the sides where the
bed slides out and we used duck tape to repair and prevent further
stress. Some rock dings on the front over the hitch from travel.

We purchased it for $700, if I remember right. There are 3 of us and we
have really enjoyed it. My husband painted the pull down stabilizers
with yellow rustoleum, and the hitch rustoleum black, repacked and
replaced the barings last week, and we also bought new 8" wheels for it
last month to get ready for our big 6,000 mile round trip. I think he
even painted the axel with rustoleum come to think of it, and caulked
the wheelwells with waterproof silicone stuff!

If your Colorado is in anywhere near as good shape as ours is you
should not have any problem selling it. In fact there is a posting if
you haven't already seen it on this newsgroup just in the past day for
someone looking for a Colorado. They are unique and practical..

good luck

The NADA folks that write the little yellow books with used car prices have a
website at NADA.com. There you'll find prices for most anything with wheels,
including pop-up campers.
