We just got back from our 2nd trip with our new Bayside. This time,
we setup the add-a-room. I'd say it added at least 45 minutes to the
setup time. Not much fun considering it was 94 degrees, humid and
full of mosquitoes.

Anyone else have the Coleman Add-a-Room? If so, what do you think
about it?

Anyone have the CareFree of Colorado Add-a-Room? I liked the fact
that it had a floor, but it was $400 and the Coleman was $99. Now I'm
even wondering if I should have considered the CareFree awning. It's
one of those roll-out types (like on a motor home) where the support
legs mount back to the camper body. I guess their Add-a-Room works on
their awning or Coleman's.

The Coleman unit was such a pain to setup that my wife is convinced
that it's not worth it if we're only going for the weekend.

Hi Mark,

I have both the add-a-room and the screen room. They both require
a lot of setup time and except for the MISQUITOES I wouldn't bother.

When you have 10,000 little biters per square inch that screen room
is a God send!

We've set ours up only once, the same day I installed all the velcro and
stuff for it (last weekend). As I recall it only took a few minutes to
put up the side and front panels, slightly longer to do the panel along
the bottom of the camper. We didn't stake it down, so that saved some
time, but I can't imagine what you were doing that required 45 minutes,
setup seemed quite straightforward to us. However...we plan on using it
this weekend for the first time in a campground, so I'll let you know
next week whether we like it or not.

We have the add a room on our bayside and it takes just under 10
minutes to set up after the initial install...we love it..i would not
set it up for an overnight but would for a long weekend...it takes more
time taking down and folding than unfolding and putting up...love that
bayside.

Jim
I dumped the "Stuff Bag" that came with the Add-a-Room and replaced it
with a nylon gym bag that zippers along its length. One about 3' long
and 18" in diameter works for ours, it also makes it a lot easier to put
away.

Mark,

We have the same camper set up as you, and you are right, first time was
brutal, but not the worst of it is over.

One of the reasons we like this addaroom, is that if bugs or weather aren't
requiring full set up, we can put up just one panel for privacy. IE the
side facing the road. Just a perk for us.

Good luck

I finally set up our add-a-room in my driveway a couple weeks ago, after
having the trailer for over a year without using it. It took about an hour,
due to needing to install all the velcro strips. Now that I have done the
initial install, I think I could set it up in less than 15 minutes, and plan
to
use it on our next trip that is more than just 1 night.

We agree with your wife. We only use the coleman addaroom when we camp
for an entire week. This is fine with us as we really don't find we need
it for weekends.

It may not have been a full 45 minutes, but I'm sure it was over 30.
That included setting up the awning, staking everything down and
rolling up and tying all the panels on the add-a-room.

I'll be interested to here how it goes for you this weekend.

Kimberly,

Nifty idea about the one panel. I would have never thought of that.

We bought the add-a-room for our 99 Westlake(to help keep an eye or two
on 17 month old twins.) We have used in once. Hubby set it up in our
yard first. This took a while. After he learned what went where, he took
it down and we headed to the North Georgia mountains. There it took
about 15 minutes with the help of our 12 year old son. It sure did come
in handy storing things and as I said, keeping the twins in our view.
I was interested in seeing the other posts about the add-a-room. The
99.00 price I saw that someone paid really caught my attention. We paid
close to 500.00 for ours. OUCH! But, we needed it really badly.
I also want to say THANKS to all. I LOVE this newsgroup and have
learned a lot from you guys. We have only used our popu-up twice(we are
new to this) and the hints and suggestions have come in very handy. Hope
everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July!

We own a 99 Mesa with an add a room...Wouldn't go camping without it...We
use a port-a-potti...purchased a solar shower and built a frame from PVC
tubbing and set it up right inside the add a room and use it instead of
walking to the bath house...still have room for two tables and chairs to
enjoy the outdoors without mosquitos

It takes the wife and me about 15 to 20 minutes to set up the add a
room...Ours comes in three panels...front, and two sides....Did have some
difficulty the last time out in 25 mph wind gusts....We usually have our
whole site set up with lights and table cloth on tables within an hours
time....

Let me know if you actually get it setup in less than 15 minutes. We
used it again lat weekend and I'd say it took 20+ minutes. This time I
had "help" - 4 other adults pitched in. At actually took us 75 minutes
from unhitch to setup. It took an additional hour to get the electric
hooked up - but that's another story!

We too have an Coleman Add-A-Room for our 98 Bayside that I picked up
brand new off of Ebay for 75.00 shipping included, and we just love
it. It does take a few times to get the hang of how everything goes
together, but we can have it set up and realy in under 15 minutes. The
worse part is rolling it back up. We us ours on every outing we go on
and have finally got our entire setup down to under 45 minutes. The
secret that works for us for not only setup but teardown as well is
that I have my duties and my wife has hers. I take care of all the
outside stuff (leveling, electric, water, and don't laugh but our
satelite) while my wife and 2 1/2 year old get the inside all
arranged. We camp often enough that besides clothing all of our other
things are left in the camper, so it don't take us long at all to setup
or teardown.

PS The satelite is cheap entertainment for our 2 1/2 year old :)

Was that hour in addition to the 75 minutes? There's a story I'd like to
hear!
