Well I just got a new gadget for the pop up. It's called a "Playte" It's
a V type metal gadget that bolts on the the hitch using the ball. Used
to force the tong of the trailer over the ball. One person mode.
Question is a force of 250 ft/lb's is needed to tighten the ball back up
and of course my new torque wrench only goes to 150 ft/lb's. What kind
of major wrench do you use to tighten these things up. Ken

The answer is easy! First take your draw bar out of your reciever and
put in in a vise. Then get a 250 lb. friend to hold the wrench 12
inches back and hang on it until it's tight!

A bit more seriously - I am assuming that you are talking about
retightening the ball on the drawbar. Mine have always had a lock
washer on the bottom so I just torque like heck. You could take it
down to your local garage and see if you could talk them into torquing
it with a air wrench if you want to be by the book.

Tim

Or I could get a 500 lb friend and use a 6" wrench :-)
Thanks I was just woundering how serious the tightness of the ball screw
actually was.
So it looks like my biggest cresent wrench with a short pipe and pull
like hel_.
Thanks again Tim: Ken

Tim: I was thinking. I have 3/4" of thread showing when tight. I think
im going to drill a 1/8 hole at the bottom and insert one of those
spring loaded 1/8 " hitch pins. If the ball ever did come loose I would
not lose it and trash the trailer. Ken
ps: gives me something to do while the latest inch of rain tries to
drain away. I called the CG I want to stay in first and they told me
it's a soggy mess of mud. And my standing offer still applies. If
anyone needs water come to my back yard. Per load limit is 1 million
gallons per visit. Only because of weight restrictions on the roads.

I just turn it 90 degrees in the receiver and stand on the end. Turn the
ball to the right to tighten.

The problem I've had is keeping the ball from rotating while
tightening the nut. I seem to recall many years ago seeing hitch
balls with flats on the base which could be grabbed by a big wrench or
pipe wrench (if you don't mind the teeth marks). Now I can't find any
like this.
