Don't get me wrong, like the Coleman and the little creature comforts. I
just liked the construction of the Jayco's better. It may just be our
preference. Or admittedly, lack of education, but real wood cabinets
instead of wood-look plastic or whatever they are made of is our preference,
wood door for dinette storage instead of a wood panel inside the cushions,
and extra bars under the big beds as braces instead of the extra framing and
single set of bars...those little differences make new Jayco's preferable to
me...That's just three differences...
Admittedly it's individual preference.
Regards.

After hiking 6 dusty miles with kids age 4 -14, the good sleep brought on
by AC is sure a nice bonus.
I see many Colemans, as well as Starcraft et al. But count me a Satisfied
Jayco customer.
You're almost right. Jayco owners are out camping while Coleman owners
are at home waiting for the dealer to replace the sagging roof or add a
weight-distributing hitch to their tow vehicles :-)
Seriously, Jayco owners simply have less to crab about than
Coleman/Fleetwood owners. Misery loves company.

I had one bad experience with a Ford product and will NEVER set foot on a
Ford dealership again. I don't think that my one bad experience proves all
Ford's stink, it's just my personal bias.

Well put John! I love my Coleman and have been very pleased with it! As I
hope everyone is with whatever they own.
But while I've got everyones attention, have you seen some of the new
accessories offered by Coleman? I perticularly liked the Vanity Mate. Its
like a swing down medicine cabinet with a mirror toiletries shelf towel bar and
papertowel holder. My dealer, (American R.V. in Grand Rapids Michigan a great
place!) says that the option will be available soon to add to our camper. This
is one I think I'll get.
Sorry I didn't mean to sound like a comercial but I wanted to share.
Hope you all have some great fall camping!

I hated the Coleman dealer. He did not even put the stabilizer jacks down on
the display units. Our family got a surprize when we walked to the back of
the trailer.
The Coleman dealer did not even care that we all took a tumble in his
camper; he just told us to be careful in the next one. This clown is no
longer a Coleman dealer.
The Jayco dealer took time to show us all the pop-ups, answered all
questions, gave us a good deal, and handled some warrenty issues in a timely
manner. I reccomend Country Homes RV in Spokane, WA.
Even if you think you made up your mind, check out the dealers as well as
the trailers.

I second that motion. Be sure to check out their service dept, and if
possible talk to other customers who have had work done there. See if
they get their unit back without greasy finger/hand prints all over.

I also agree. Our dealer sells both Jayco and Coleman. When we were looking
for a new camper we were able to see both, side by side. The sales rep did a
good job of going over the features of both, and did so without bad mouthing
one or the other. The quality of Jayco and Coleman, in my opinion, is very
close. Both are fine units which, with reasonable care, should provide years
of camping pleasure. The folks at the service department talked pretty
frankly about service histories of both brands, which helped us make a
decision. It's interesting to read the many "I think <some brand> campers are
the best" posts. It reminds me of high school days when some classmates would
get into physical confrontations over whether Chevys or Fords were better
cars.
