Before you buy.
i am not familiar with that, is it a regular pop-up trailer? Unless it is
a motorhome or big rig, I would say that someone was seriously trying to
rip you off. We paid $20 last year and had complete coverage.

We are already covered through liability on our truck whick is nice. We could
get extra insurance for vandalism etc. for $90 a year but we aren't going to
get it. This is State Farm. Popup is Starcraft Venture 2106.

Rich:
You are going to get numbers all over the board. IMHO, these are
the questions you must find out about when it comes to pop up
(or trailer) insurance (mine is covered by a "Motor Home or
Trailer" endorsement on my auto policy):
When my pop up is parked (i.e. in storage) What does my insurance
cover me for? (mine is covered for fire, theft, flood, vandalism,
collision damage or physical upset)
If I am towing my pop up, how is the liability issue addressed if
I am in an accident, or my pop up comes loose from the tow
vehicle and causes damage? (mine is covered by my property damage
section of my auto policy)
What if I am towing my pop up and it comes loose and subsequently
hurts someone? (mine is covered by my liability section of my
auto policy)
Once I am unhooked and set up at a camp, if someone is hurt in my
pop up (slips, falls, burns, etc.), what coverage do I have? (my
coverage would come from my homeowner's insurance coverage)
Some of the time my pop up is covered by its own coverage (cost
is $56.00 per year).
Some of the time my pop up is covered by my auto policy.
Some of the time my pop up is covered by my homeowner's policy.
It might be best to check with you auto and homewoner's insurance
before taking out additional insurance on your pop up.....

That is bascially what SF told me too.
Insurance laws and rates vary so much, from state to state and even from
county to county, that it's hard to estimate what you will pay.
I southeast Michigan, I pay $62 every 6 months for full coverage with a
$50 deductible.

Sorry, looked it up and I was wrong. I pay $18.50. Liability covered
under tow vehicle. Comp and collision covered with $250 deductible. My
company is Nationwide. My trailer is a 1999 Coleman Sea Pine. There you
have it. Of course we lived in Delaware when we paid that and Nationwide
doesn't cover residents of New Jersey, which is where we live now. We are
in the process of re-insuring and our Prudential agent quoted us between
$10 and $30 dollars for slightly better coverage.
The check is in the mail. :)

I suspect you (and anyone else) is better off avoiding GEICO
anyway. I'll not bash them in public, but will be glad to tell my
war story in private e-mail if anyone wants to know. But,
basically I got really shafted and even the state insurance
commissioner agreed (but couldn't allocate staff to fight my
battle since not many of us were victims). I switched to State
Farm, got a better deal, and have been happy with them every
since.
Now, then they call or send me junk mail soliciting me to switch
to them I fill their ears with some unpleasant comments.

Even when we had a "full RV policy" with Foremost, we only paid about $200 a
year.
(That was with the replacement cost coverage option).

We have insurance on the pop-up. It costs us a extra $30.00 a year for it. It
would have been covered under our regular policy, but with a brand new camper,
I wanted the extra protection.
We switched to Travelers because with Nationwide they screwed up my insurance
on my van. They listed as a cargo van, not a conversion. They said I had to
bring it to the district office to have it evaluated( after they had been
insuring it wrong for 4 years). I told them what they could do with their
policy. We were lucky that we never were in a accident, other wise we could
have been out a van. With the new policy, the van is covered properly and the
right coverage for the pop-up.
