Sorry if this has already been posted. I looked back as far as I could and
didn't see anything. We are hoping to go to Niagara Falls in August. We'll
be taking our Coleman Sante Fe. Does anyone have suggestions for great
campgrounds near Niagara Falls on either side of the line?

Thanks,
Tracy

If you search back farther using Google (they have all the Deja archives),
you should find lots of recommendations. Try:

Tracy:

The KOA on Lundy's Lane on the Canadian side is really close to the action
but is a really busy, noisy campground with a train line running past the
back of the property. If you'd like a much quieter place, located in
rolling countryside, try Bissell's Hideaway (www.bissellshideaway.com) in
Fonthill ... about 20 mins from The Falls. If you have kids they'll love
the acre size pool.

Ahhh, but that train is part of the camping experience. Nothing like a diesel
locomotive air horn at 2 AM.

Honk! Honk!

BTW, it's been a long time! I'll send some pics of my new portable indoor

Hi Pete:

We're in Burlington ... but we don't camp much locally ... most of it's in
the States, but I'm always open to suggestions for great places to camp!

Well we both own our own businesses so all we can be away is long
weekends and somtimes I go and she comes a day to two later.
byng island has a great web site that you can pick out the site ,it
tells you about it and check to see if its avail, for the dates in
question. great for the short get aways, and reasonable and fairly
quiet. ( im 40 ish so partying isnt high on my list ) Whats it like to
cross the creek with the camping stuff and trailer? whats the
process??????? thought about it but havent checked it out. pete

Hi Tracy & Mark,

My family and I stayed in the KOA on the Canadian side.
It had 2 outdoor pools, an indoor pool, 2 hot tubs, a sauna, a large game
room, gift shop, and a pavilion for activities (Karaoke, etc.), and 5 miles
from the Falls.
It was very clean, and very affordable (made even more affordable by the
favorable US/Canadian Exchange rate.

I highly recommend it.

Its worth giving a try, eh?? :)

Pete,

Is this, http://camping.camis.com/cmap.asp, what you're referring to?

I'm a rail fan and live in Rochester, not too far from there. I wasn't
aware there was that much activity on that line. Matter of fact, my
wife and I honeymooned around 20 feet from that line... only one train
in two days... at 8:am. My book shows the line to be max speed 10
mph.

As for the rest of the questions...

Canadian side:
There's Glen-View.. Around 3 mles north of the Rainbow Bridge, and 2.5
miles north on the Niagara Parkway... get off at Victoria Ave.Full
hookups, Playground. Hiking trail. Lightly wooded, as I recall it.
Let's see, here (I blew up my last computer, so all my bookmarks are
gone...)..... Oh, here it is. http://www.missionmgmt.com/ngv

There's a site at MarineLand... not worth much more than a mention,
IMO. The KOA's there are OK in a pinch, but (Shrug) not my first
choice.

There are some others that are far better, but they're a drive away...
around 30 miles. Being a local, I would seriously consider Lei-Ti in
Batavia, or Lake Erie state park, along Rt 5 south of Buffalo.
