Hi all,

I just purchased a Marshall Extend a Flow kit so I can use my portable
propane grill with the bottle on the camper. I have a cheap($20)
Sunbeam table top grill but it never cooked very well with the small
disposable cylinders. So, I am thinking about getting another one. Any
suggestions on a good portable propane grill, one that will cook good.

Thanks,

Marty

Marty,

We've been using a Charbroil tabletop grill for a number of years.
I've grilled many a dog, burger, chicken, etc. Also uses disposable
cylinders, just like my lantern and heater. The legs swing up to
lock the top to the base for storage.

More info on the grill at this link:
http://www.charbroil.com/grills/Tabletop.asp

It was cheap also. I think I paid $20 for it at The Home Depot.
Had it 6 years and haven't found myself wanting "more grill".

I have a Coleman combo tabletop grill. It has a teflon coated grill on the
left side and a single burner on the right side. The grill can hold up to
eight burgers at a time. We found it very useful for BBQing. We have also
used a pan over the grill section and it works just fine. I think it was
about $60 at Walmart.

Weber makes a nice on that is priced under $50. I use it with an adapter
hose to connect it to a 20lb tank.

Hub purchased a Bakers and Chefs stainless steel propane grill at Sams
for 89.00. Cooks excellent!!! No charring, no flare-up, etc.

The only thing I don't like about using my extend-a-stay tee for the
grill is that I'm limited by the length of hose I have as to where I
can put the grill. I bought a stand for the grill so I don't have to
be at the picnic table but being at the table, with all that open
space is really nice. I solved this problem by getting another propane
tank. Now I have a choice of using the tee or setting up anywhere I
want.

The one I have is an Olympian table-top grill that I got from Camping
World. It isn't cheap ($80), but it is made of fairly heavy stuff, not
just thin sheet metal. It is about the same size as the cheap ones so
it will easily cook 6-8 burgers at a time. My only complaint is that I
can't turn the flame down as far as I'd like for cooking things like
chicken that takes quite a while. My wife doesn't like the skin so
with this grill we leave the skin on and char it off while doing the
cooking.

Hi again,

I've been trying to find a Broil King portable. Has removable legs, and a
larger cooking area than most of the
portables; around 360 sq in IIRC. Also has a warming shelf. Camping world
has
them, I think, but I'd like to see one first; I want to see if that 360
inches includes the warming shelf. If you're really well
heeled, check out the Ducane portable!

So do I. The Weber is far better than the Sunbeam, IMO. The Sunbeam fell apart
after 1.5 seasons.

Does the grill come with some type of briquets? This would seem to
cook more like charcoal or my large grill I use at home. The biggest
problem I have with the sunbeam is that is has a metal plate over the
burner and doesn't get anywhere near as hot as a regular charcoal
portable. Last time I used it took a long time to cook the food. Maybe
the Sunbeam is just a piece of junk and the others will cook much
better?

Thanks,

Marty

I just did a search for Weber Gas Go-anywhere grill and found the
weber site. Do any of the discount chains sell them? Walmart here only
has Sunbeam and charbroil I think for under $20. Weber sounds like a
much better grill if I can find a store that sells them.

Thanks,

Marty

Go to their site, type "broil" in the search field, hit return. You
get three hits - with the Broil King in the numero uno position.

Or... Do not pass Go, do not collect $200, go directly to:

This is *really* changing the subject, but for those people
who have an "inside-outside" stove, with the low pressure fitting to
the exterior, and a bracket already on the side of the trailer, there
is the "RVQ"- found here http://www.vitco.com/ws/The_RVQ.html .

Pretty expensive, but very high quality.

If you have a Lowes near you check there. I saw them at our Lowes but didn't
look at the price.

We have also used the Charbroil table top grill for a number of years, like
10+ or so it seems. True the flame varies depending on how full the
portable cylinder is, but with a little attention, it has been totally free
of trouble.

Found that a propane fire place liter from Home Depot for about $2.97 is
well worth keeping in the grill to light it. Last one lasted about 2 years.
