I sold my Rockwood, left the microwave in it, went today
to Wal-Mart to get a new microwave to put in my new
Jayco SG-10 suppose to be there at 2:00 for delivery, 5/10
While at Wal-mart I saw a toaster oven, reading on the
box seem as if one can bake, broil, toast, which does
not work in a microwave the same, I am a male camp
by myself, I do not know anything about a toaster
oven, how do you thing this would work in place of
a microwave?

We had the same thoughts... Chose the toaster oven, all we use
the microwave is to thaw and warm up leftovers. The toaster oven
was the best choice for us..

In place of - not too well. INSTEAD of.....just great!

You can still re-heat in a toaster oven if you want to. About the only
restriction is the defrosting of meat for dinner. (about the only thing I use
the micro for at home) But the toaster oven you can use for LOTS of dishes,
toasted sandwiches, eggo waffles....the list is endless!! (it gets a place in
our camper just for doing open faced cheese sandwiches.......that alone is
worth toting it along) As well as almost anything that you'd cook in a regular
oven at home.

Then of course the kids love hot dogs done with those pilsbury rolls.....
and reheating cinnamon buns.........quiche for brekkie.......

Oh,yeah, get the toaser oven! I think I'll go make a snack.......

I thanks, all for the info, I will go tomorrow get a toaster oven, since we
have a microwave at home if don't like the oven in the camper can
put it in the house & get a microwave for the camper.

There are microwave/convection ovens available. They will cook like a
normal oven, or a microwave. Sharp makes one but I don't know if they
make a small unit. IMHO, camping and microwaves/toaster ovens don't go
together though. We cook rather gourmet meals, all over a grill.
