As the President /CEO of Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara,
Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties, I am outraged by the
misinformation contained in the Sunday, October 19 column written by
Dr. Laura Schlessinger in the Santa Barbara News-Press, "Planned Un-
Parenthood and You Tube make naughty bedfellows".
Here are the facts: When anti-abortion activists posing as underage
teens made false statutory rape claims at two North Carolina Planned
Parenthood health centers while seeking birth control, Planned
Parenthood staff took aggressive action. Despite the fact that Planned
Parenthood staff suspected the two women were actually adults
providing false information, they notified Child Protective Services
as well as police. The ensuing police investigation unfortunately
disrupted the lives of an innocent Winston-Salem family whose minor
daughter has the same last name as the one provided by the fake
patient.
Triggering false reports of rape is a tactic used by anti-abortion
activists who are out to undermine the reputation of Planned
Parenthood. Instead of aggrandizing these unlawful tactics, Dr. Laura
should be condemning them for severely hindering the critical work of
public health and law enforcement agencies by causing them to expend
time and resources investigating bogus claims.
Planned Parenthood has provided quality reproductive health care
services to the women, men and families in the tri-counties for more
than 45 years. Last year alone, patients made over 61,000 visits to
our five health centers where they received a broad range of services
that included cancer screening and vasectomy, in addition to
contraception . Contrary to what Dr. Laura asserts, abortion comprises
only 6% of the services we provide. We are proud to be strong
advocates for women, men and teens seeking affordable, professional
health care and accurate, unbiased information regarding reproductive
health.
Shame on Dr. Laura for making false accusations and spreading
outrageous lies about Planned Parenthood! -Cheryl Rollings, president

Folks, you all missed the point. These women - pretending to be minors
- did not claim rape; they posed as minors to test to see whether
Planned Un-Parenthood would comply with the laws of the State of No.
Carolina. According to the report mention in my SB NewsPress column,
and many other such examples over the years, Planned Un-Parenthood has
a history of not reporting minor girls coming for abortions who admit
to having had sex with adult males.
It is a shame that Cheryl Rollings, President and CEO of P U-P, would
choose to criticize me rather than deal with the problems within her
own organization.

"thedoc" said "did not claim rape"
The little I read of Laura Schlessinger's A2 Santa Barbara News-Press
now I notice it is often used for abortion issues. She attacks Planned
Parenthood more than I can count. She is focused on destroying them
and I've never known her writers to say one nice thing. Their focus is
on the 6% but they intend to besmirch and annihilate the other 94% as
well.
The writers of the A2 Santa Barbara News-Press column with the "Dr
Laura" character made it clear she hates anonymous. An honorable
professional would respond and verify, NOT thedoc (anonymous profile)
in a local media. Whatever, the "Dr Laura" name is slime because of
her constant one sided mudslinging lies. This is another example of
why fake media docs are so dangerous. This self appointed ROLE MODEL

"Thedoc" is NOT verified and "did not claim rape" is misinforming. "Dr
Laura" and "Thedoc" are confusing and destroying the youth, Americas
future. The children of parents who listen to her are in peril.
